Pure domination. Even when Port ‘came’ during the second quarter, Coll still kicked 1.6 (should have been 4.3).

Easy win.

What ever happened to the AFL's rabid away-strip fad?

Port's main color is teal. So when they play away against the Magpies, they wear black and white and grey, and no teal? In some of the middle-distance shots, it was difficult to tell the difference between players in a pack.

The grey is horrific, just like the Carlton grey.

i thought it was just me! and the screens at marvel dont help, not sure if too small, not zoomed enough or just shitty picture, but junior had trouble picking players out too!

The fact that the afl have allowed Port to change their ‘alternate’ strip from all white to darkish grey is pathetic and an embarrassment.

Port’s colours are black, white and teal.

All black (home) and all white (away), is the quintessential ‘clash’ package. Basically, like ours.

Why they changed to all grey with black and white V with white shorts and all black socks for ‘clash’ games is embarrassing and the AFL has proven once and for all that they are run by imbeciles.

It looked like arse at the stadium. It looked like arse on the TV replay. On more than one occasion players second guessed their disposal or flat out gave it to the opposition.

I should be astounded that the afl agreed to green light this sh!t, but I’m not. They run a Mickey Mouse league that masquerades as a professional outfit.

Pathetic.

I was so glad to see Jaidyn Stephenson spend most of the game in the forward line tonight. He's too good around goals to have him busting his engine running up the ground, when there are others who can do that job. His talents as a forward need to be fully capitalized on IMHO.

Hinkley told Port to come, but the Pies were already there...

Wins like this can turn top 8 material into top 4. One week at a time.

Strong win.

A dominant first quarter set the tone for the rest of the match, and we never looked like losing at any stage despite Port's mini fightback in the second and early stages of the third quarter. Before the match started, I would have been ecstatic with a 39 point victory considering Port's good run of form leading into tonight's game.

Pendles backs it up again with another great performance. I'm starting to notice the media is talking about him in the mould of being one of Collingwood's all time greats. Considering he's approaching 300 games and been ultra consistent for over a decade, I think the discussions are valid.

Excellent defensive performance by Moore. One of his best performances in his career so far.

Becoming worried about De Goey's set shot kicking. He's had the kicking yips for a few weeks now, and he hasn't been able to shake it. Hopefully he can improve on that aspect of the game in the coming weeks.

Disappointing to hear that Adams suffered an adductor strain. Suspect it will result in him missing several weeks, which is a big loss. Hopefully we're able to cover his loss adequately.

The forward line functioned well tonight. Stephenson was on fire especially in the first quarter. Elliott and Mihocek also kicked several majors, which only makes our forward line more potent and dangerous for opposition defences.

Wonderful gesture by the club to make Kyron's night special and one he won't forget. Witnessing his struggles certainly reminds us of the preciousness of life and puts ones own life into perspective.

A great evening Stevo was great, Moore all over Port like a cheap suit, Pendles all class Billy looking better . Levi was workmanlike and smart, Treloar's goal fantastic.

My favourite goal of the night. The skill to pull it off was fantastic.

^ No one will ever replicate Daicos. He'll always be one of a kind.

Great sign that we're able to burst out of the blocks in our matches. We're currently on a 10-match streak for winning the first quarter.

Semi Final 2018 v GWS = +22
Preliminary Final 2018 v Richmond = +23
Grand Final 2018 v West Coast = +17

Back 6 have been awesome, all playing with cool heads. Best performance in some time, and getting better each week. The group really seem to have awareness of their individual roles while working as a unit. Moore and Roughead have slotted in beautifully. Credit to the coaching staff.
You win Premierships from defence.

Having watched the replay it's easy to say that we won easy
In fact I think the ease of the win is the least important thing
I did votes this morning and I made some notes in each quarter and what it did was showed how our workload is shared across many players
Pendles is the icing on the cake when we look good because he seems to be the go to player when we need some class
Treloar's work rate just keeps building as the games goes
Stephenson is only scratching the surface of how good he can be
I'll highlight a few things that may be missed watching once
In the first term we stopped them scoring with about 9.30 to play
The ball swung across the back pocket and at the top of the screen you see Grundy run off Lycett with a burst of speed. Ass the ball progresses up field Grundy provides a Shepard for Sidey to give him a bit more time for him to hit a forward target. We didn't score from that entry but it shows Grundy's work rate and eagerness gave us a opportunity
In the second term when Port came hard at us and we're having repeated entries the on field leaders adjusted our set up. Sidey was deployed starting at the back of the square to give the defence a extra man. Pendles went to the defensive side of the contest as a starting point (prior he was on th offensive side of the contest) so if they won the ball Pendles could impact it enough to give Sidey time to fill a gap in defence. It showed our leaders are very well drilled at seeing and adjusting as momentum chafes during the game
Many of here have been critical of Beams and I think he's started the season slowly as well but not as bad as some think. Last night he played directly on Rockliff who's been in Port's top 5-8 players every week this season.
He was averaging over 32 touches a game 6 clearances 5 inside 50's and 4 rebound 50's
Last night 22 touches 4 clearances 2 inside 50's no rebound 50's
Beams basically took away one of there weapons whilst still having 20+ and kicking s goal
Some times players don't need 30+ to do a impact the teams performances like Sidey Pendles and others have done
Finally our forward line is weird. We are constantly changing who's starts deep who gets up the ground who stays inside 50. It must be a nightmare trying to figure out who's who and who's going where
Movement is hard to quell but when it's done a speed and the players versatility allows them to play different roles must make it near impossible
5-2 is a good start and seriously we should win 4 of our next 5 so we should be sitting very nicely heading into the second half of the season

Goodread Qldr, good comments on Beams, people don’t notice these things,

And yes Holden, premierships are won from defence, (and lost, sigh))

At half time a couple who shall be nameless said game over we lose! Seriously, Port are in the 8, they beat west coast, they were always going to come back, harden up guys, take a blue pill! At the end of the season is when we need 4 solid quarters, to see the boys fight back, fight it out and stop those dreaded junk timegoals, that’s what we need right now, courage, determination, toughness. That’s what builds champion teams, not easy riding.

Apart from a somewhat dour atmosphere, last night was magnificent, cheers
Go Pies!
