^ If the SCG is unavailable, they could alway play the Sydney and Melbourne match at the Lakeside Oval this week Wink

"Whilst FFA understands the current demands on the surface, which now sees five codes using the ground, it appears that the needs of our code around surface condition may not be able to be met, despite the best intentions of all parties."

Shocked

I guess the five include cricket.

It's rock concerts that are really inexcusable. (Happened in the past.)

SCG to resist AFL pressure for drop-in pitch

http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/26474491/scg-resist-afl-pressure-drop-pitch

'Sydney Swans are just five years into a 30-year contract with the venue which, unlike the MCG and Adelaide Oval, along with the new multi-purpose Optus Stadium in Perth, have resisted the move away from natural wickets.

"With a wicket base on the ground, it's something we've always been mindful of, obviously we'd support a drop in wicket if that was part of the discussion," Swans coach John Longmire said. "It's certainly very important to discuss it, it's a 12 months a year venue." '

I'm fairly confident I'm going to see Metallica at Marvel whenever it is that they come to Melbourne (I have the ticket in my email somewhere, I just have no idea when it is).

If it's Metallica, we'll no doubt hear them from the G while the Pies are simultaneously playing a game.

'Muscat was critical of the decision to play at the venue last week, and wonders why, if the SCG surface is acceptable, why Sydney won't play any more games on it this season.

''I wasn't anticipating any feedback ...I just feel it's been swept under the carpet to be honest. All that I read was that the process in deeming the surface fit has been backed,'' he said of the post-injury fallout.

''What I am asking now [is if] the process is correct, which is staggering considering the game, why don't they keep playing there then. '''

And now out west:

Simpson slams Optus surface after another 'victim' goes down

https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-04-20/simpson-on-surface

"We’re going to have to stop training here (Optus Stadium), and that's pretty obvious.

"It's a bit like when you get asked 'do you want to train at the 'G?'. Of course you do.

"But we're losing players so until that ground becomes better for both us and Fremantle, we might have to avoid training here."

"Yes, it has a roof, but so does Rod Laver arena, and Chadstone, also my outdoor dunny.
...

Marvel isn't even itself, as per its original specifications 20 years ago. Where's the flashing exterior lighting that is synced to goals, for instance. Actually, I don't care. And where are the retractable seats? They're permanently retracted, like the junk under your house that you are always going to sort out and never do. Marvel's food and drink is E grade."
