I understand that a career and a season is more than one game. He is one of my favourites. Even mates of mine that hate us like him and wish that he played for their team. But, he's not going to be thinking that. He's going to have a bitter taste in his mouth for the rest of his life when he thinks of this season. That's just the way it is. |
No argument here. My original comment was, admittedly, a defensive response to a poster who has a history of potting Sidey, at every opportunity. He'd be delighted with Steele's performance, no doubt. It's a bit sickening actually. _________________ Fault finding is like window washing. All the dirt seems to be on the other side.

Well, Im pleased were not blaming Sidey for the loss because, lets be blunt, Collingwood would Not have reached the Grand Final if he hadnt played such a stunning trio of games in the first three finals. |

You can never blame a single player for any lose its a ludicrous statement to do so.
His finals games pre the GF were great no one has said any different
But if you read your own comments immediately after the game your closer to blaming him than I ever was
P4S you banged on for years that if the club could get to the GF Sidey was the player to win it for us.
It didn't happen that way and that's now history recorded for the ages
My comments is he needs to find a way to handle a tag because they will come thick and fast at him now. It's a proven method to stop him and any club who doesn't at least try to limit his output could pay a high price |

It's not a proven method to stop him. Yours is just a very opportunistic argument. He happened to play a dog of a game against a tagger. He's been tagged plenty of times this year and played outstanding football, including against the same hopeless slug in the Qualifying Final. |

And so, Vice-Captain Back to Back has his second Copeland in a row.
That's 7 successive top 5 finishes and top 3 in 4 of the last 5 (4th, 3rd, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 1st and 1st). His "low" 5th finish in 2015 came in a season in which he only played 16 games.
Only 22 players have won the Copeland twice. He is one of an elite group who have won it back to back. The others are Nathan Buckley, Scott Pendlebury, Jimmy Clement, Len Thompson, Bobby Rose, Albert Collier, Des Fothergill, Phonse Kyne, Dane Swan, Paul Licuria, the Weed, Micky McGuane, Thorold Merrett and Peter Moore. Of that select group, only Rose, Collier, Fothergill, Merrett, Moore, Licuria and Swan before him have won at least one of their back to back trophies in a Grand Final year.
If only he wasn't repeatedly played out of position in the middle of the field, instead of up forward, so that Oxley could take his rightful place in the centre square. |
