His family blames us for his first major injury and he forced his way out, no thanks. |

The argument trotted out (for NF and other players) that "he never had hamstring problems before" seems rather weak to me, at least on its own. I mean, there always has to be a first time. When some middle-aged person has a heart attack, does everyone say "he never had a history of heart attacks"? I cannot recall anyone, AFL-to-be or not, that I knew in school ripping hamstrings. Can anyone else? |

Looks gone now. Toured Gold Coast before the draft, but now will have to wait for the new pre-season supplementary thingy to see if he gets a second chance?

We recruited an immature player with an athletic background who spent a lifetime barracking for St Kilda and got ahead of himself as to how good he was. He eventually got his wish going to St Kilda and finally got over injury to play a couple of senior games. Then we all found out what sort of player Freeman was, which is that he likes the traffic one way. He needs to spend a couple of years at least playing local footy to sort himself out, if he wants to return as a mature age footballer to AFL. Worst mistake of Hine’s recruiting career which I assume was caused by Melbourne grabbing Salem from us before our draft turn. |

I met Freeman at one of our games and he was one of the nicest players I'd spoken to.
I think he goes into the Lee Walker category of "What could have been". _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

He's been out of the AFL system for 12 months now.
Got through the VFL season, playing 10 of a possible 18 games. The Dolphins finished last with a record of 1-17. (Their only win against North Melbourne in round 10).
Will he enter the draft or look to sign on as a delisted player, if he can still do that?
Is still in contact with former Collingwood teammates.
1. Is he up to it physically? (Does he still have the skill?)
2. Is he up to it mentally? (Would his heart be in it?)
3. Will a club take the risk? (Age 24, hamstring history)
From the dolphins webpage:

Quote: | Nathan Freeman:
Of the ten full games Freeman played, he collected over 30 possessions in seven of them. That sums up Freeman’s season.
Influential as anyone when he was on the park using his game sense and AFL experience to get himself in good positions through the midfield but spent two sustained periods on the sidelines. Will that cost him a podium finish?

He was projected to finish in the top 3, but failed to finish in the top ten. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

^ But he went to Dr. double-hyphen twice, so his hamstrings must be restored to better than a bungy-jumping cord. |
