It's been a fantastic trade win for us, but, to be a bit pedantic, it's not entirely accurate to say that we obtained 3 players for one.
The number of players on the list is finite. I think the maximum you can have is about 41. So, if you think of Crisp taking Beams position on our list then De Goey and Greenwood are taking the positions that we may have otherwise filled with two rookies.

It's pretty safe to say though that Crisp+DeGoey+Greenwood > Beams+rookie+rookie.

Both wrong.

We were always going to pick up Greenwood from North and they wanted a second rounder. Had Beams not left, we would have used pick 30 instead of the #25 we were given in the trade. Pick 30 was eventually used on Brayden Maynard and he would not have been available by our next pick, you'd think.

The deal, therefore, was really Beams and pick 67 for de Goey, Maynard and Crisp.

That's the sort of trading from Brissie that would even make Freo blush

And it felt like the end of the world as we knew it, at the time.

A lot changes in 3-4 seasons...

To me, it looked like we gave away our next captain for another hit/miss 1st round draft pick and steak-knives.

It worked; who'da thunked it? Laughing

Wonder what it'd take to bring him back?

2 first round draft picks (and a swap of later picks), i'd reckon!!!

crisp was average at the bears

if he stayed at them he probably wouldnt of even been in there best 22 and delisted.

another example of good players they get but are unable to get the best out of...

recent example -
Josh Schache

Previous examples -
Elliot Yeo
Jack Redden

So in actual fact out of those trading / drafting years we've got:

Beams, DeGoey, Moore, Varcoe, Crisp, Maynard, Greenwood, picks 41 & 44 (some of Quaynor and Kelly)

and gave up:
Beams for 4 years, Heritier, picks 5, 9, 25 ,30 (2013), picks 18 and 57 (2018) and 1st rounder (2019)

Makes me even happier
