The thing is we are starting to develop various weapons that can hurt opposition.

DeGoey has done little last two weeks. But can bite an opposition with 5 goal performance.
WHE kicked 6 this week
Cox can kick 2 or 3 and clearly is a worry for opposition and need to get a spare defender against him.
Thomas can chip in with multiples regularly and needs opposition attention.
Reid or Miocheck (this week) can kick multiples.

Our mids are goal kickers too. Trealor, Pendles, Siddey, Phillips, Grundy can all hit the scoreboard with multiples.

Opposition now need to worry about us.

Just would love Elliott to be in that mix as he is a multiple goal kicker that needs close attention or he'll hurt em on the scoreboard.

I don't think we are in top 4 contention yet. Too many injuries and too many inexperienced players in the 22 that need another year or two. But we do have a scary 22 starting to surface now.

Other than a few of the following who will get better as they mature (like Stevo and Maynard), i dont need a better player in any of these positions.

Crisp [___] Langdon
Scharenberg Howe, Maynard
Phillips, Adams, Sidey
DeGoey, [___] Stephenson
Wells, [___] WHE

Grundy, Pendles, Treloar

Thomas, [___], [___], [___]

Even though this team has 6 gaps, Dunn, Cox, Moore, Aish and two others (from Greenwood, Mayne, Varcoe, Elliot, Daicos, Brown, Appleby, Murray, Crocker - and yes, Mihocek) are not far off being a pretty complete team.

Watching Yesterday live, why is it that our captain does not get the recognition he deserves not only can you mark him down for 30 possessions every week (none of which are the run around the back for the cheap handball) but he is also shutting the top player in the opposition down most weeks.

Grundy, WHE & Phillips were very very good yesterday but gee the Captain just continues to be fantastic probably only for 258 games (he must have played 4 modest games).

This is why he probably does not get the pats on the back

Wasn't Bradman rated a failure in the Bodyline series when he only averaged about 50 (on uncovered wickets)?

Soft, outside player - couldn’t get the contested ball. Wink

My Dad saw The Machine and Bradman. He says Bradman never went into a pack at Victoria Park.

Dunstall didn't like him either, as he always kept the ball on the ground when he was scoring.

The hero of the body line series was Stan McAbe, who took all the hits but stood there and courageously played all his shots.

That's what I thought. McCabe had the one good innings whereas Bradman was ill and couldn't play the first test, but then racked up the most runs in the remaining tests by intently watching the ball to avoid being hit. The reason Bradman's scoring was curtailed was quite simple. If you bowl fast with a rising ball into the body and place all your fieldsmen in a left side field placement it's impossible to score runs (unless the ball is bowled wide and then you can hook it). Anything Smith or Warner did by ball tampering doesn't even come close to what Larwood was doing.

Bradman "couldn't play the first test"? That would be the one where he was playing golf, while Stan McAbe and the others were being pummeled by Larwood.

Of course not; there would be far too many Catholics for his liking!

I was going to say the same thing but didn’t as I didn’t think that anyone else would understand the background to the comment! Glad you posted it.
