Post subject: Contract clarification | |
|
I'm unsure of the truth in this but if anyone can shed any light would be appreciated.
I was told on the weekend by a friend that Sidey has a "Opt Out" clause in his contract he can trigger come seasons end.
Does anyone know if this is correct or is this just a rumour that is circulating ?
I would be stunned if the club was stupid enough to have such a clause in any players contract let alone a guy they signed for a 5 year term.
I'm hoping this isn't true he's in career best form and I can only see him improving when others around him improve as well |

Even if he has, are you assuming he may want out or use it to negotiate a better contract? |

No not at all mate it just seems weird to me the club would let such a clause (if it's true) be in a player of Sidey's stature
At seasons end he would be a unrestricted free agent by my understanding reading the rules so he and his manager could have opted for that length of contract if that was there intent. Conversely I would assume his manager would have had milestone or performance clauses built into his deal to reward him for performance.
It just made me wonder after last year when we re-signed Grundy his deal runs out when he's a restricted free agent I didn't like that timing at all either
As I said I don't know if it's true was hoping someone may have a better knowledge on his deal than I deal. All I can find online is his deal expires at the end of the 2020 season |

It's actually a 'cop out' clause.
If he fails to win the Brownlow, he can blame Grundy. |

I wonder.
Does your friend know about your colourful history surrounding Sidey?
Two seasons ago the thought he could opt out of a contract wouldn't have raised your eyebrows but now you're aboard the bottom train you're concerned enough to start this thread.
I believe Sir you are being played and being played beautifully by your friend.
LOL.
P.S- Sidebottom is signed until the end of 2021. He isn't going anywhere. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
