It pisses me off that two grandsons of players from the 1953 Premiership team are playing with other clubs but unless they bring in Grandfather/son recruiting there is nothing that we can do about it. Ed Richards is probably the bigger disappointment. Not only is he part of the multi generational Pannam Richards dynasty but I suspect that he is going to be a very good player. Sam Weideman on his current form does not look as if he is going to be as good as his Grandad - although he may be better than his Dad.

Dynasties like the Rioli,s —the Danihers are excellent

But Pannam —Richards dynasty goes back to somewhere around 1890

Early days, but Ed looks like a good player in the making.

Can we persuade him to defect to us in two years? Wink

Sad but true.

I guess he needs to look after himself first.

It’s rubbish like Richards playing against us that brings into sharp focus that the great game we loved has been turned into an entertainment spectacle.

Still, if the Weed’s grandson can barrack for Richmond and play for Melbourne, anything is possible.

I hope Richards plays badly and repeatedly turns the ball over at halfback. Unfortunately, he’s not that guy - they’re mostly in our team - but I have no interest at all in seeing him play well. I look forward to him having a short, ordinary career for a short, ordinary club.

Richmond may have a similar issue coming up in a couple of years with probably their most famous lineage. Frank Bourke played for the club, followed by his son Francis who was followed by his son David. David made it to 85 games. David's son, who is 15 years old, is around 6 feet 4 or 5 tall and can play. David is 15 games short to make him a father-son though.

Collingwood has a rich history of brother,s uncle,s son,s etc.
Colliers Coventry Pannams Richards Richardson’s —and Shaw,s
to name just a few (oh Twomeys)

Would like to see just the VFL list of family generation,s put up to compare
our history over the rest
