He was quick though, a damn sight quicker than some of the plodders we have on the list currently, and his disposal would have fit right in on Thursday night

How “Shaw” are you that you aren’t revisiting that nightmare again right now???

I was there in the Shaw years and there’s very concerning similarities between the two eras.

For those of us who went to all the games in the late 90’s, it’s like Groundhog Day.

Dave, did you not have the pleasure of watching Wild yourself?

"pleasure" and "watching Wild" should never be used in the same sentence ever again

My most vivid memory of Jason Wild?

At Waverley, playing the Hawks, I was there with a Hawthorn supporting mate who had never seen Wild before and asked me about him after Wild did a few good things. My response was along the lines of "good athlete, quick, can get the ball but gets let down by his skills and turning it over too much" . A couple of minutes later he had the ball and was streaming through the centre unopposed when he delivered a beautiful handball to a Hawthorn player. Turnover. Easy goal to Hawthorn. He never stopped trying, but he just couldn't get those sorts of things out of his game.

Wild played 70 games for Collingwood so the pair do not meet eligibility as father-sons. However, through their indigenous background, they are members of Carlton's Next Generation Academy.

Jeez, imagine the uproar if they become stars for Carlton.

^^^
History does seem to have a habit of repeating at Collingwood, but perhaps more so on the board/directors/admin side than the football side.

Wild's main problem was his disposal. It was terrible. He was a actually a courageous player who won a lot of hard ball....and promptly turned the ball over to the other side. I think Shaw liked his endeavour. He certainly played him in preference to some other players on the list with more talent but less guts.

Elsewhere, P4S reveals his true feelings about Jason Wild...

The team has been so hopeless to watch that I haven't been to a game since I watched them play for 15 minutes against The Western Bulldogs on 26 July 2015 - that's over two full seasons (yes, I went to virtually every game in 1976 - and I also have a certain fondness for Jason Wild, so it isn't about the on-field results).
