Question P1:

To Bucks: Is there evidence that the players' kicking skills have undergone real and continuing improvement? At a previous Member Forum, you said that they had and that it takes time for people's perceptions to adjust to this. Well, another year has passed and the perceptions are still the same. Kick rating stats this year suggest Pendlebury was best, but he's always been that good. Those stats also suggest Crisp was one of the worst in the AFL this year.

...

Non-Answer P1:

Hmm... The evidence from the AFLX and intra-club matches was not all that encouraging. We know that they're practising this stuff with a lot of competitive match sim in training. More patience required?
It seems they regarded N. Murphy's kicking as elite and this influenced their draft decision.

Just adding Rodney Eade's comment...

Partial Answer P1:

Steve: "how realistic is it to expect to be able improve the skill level of a list aside from replacing personal?"[sic!]

Eade: "Marginal improvement in players by training , devt etc. Certainly recruiting good kicks eg D Wells is best way. If poor kicking team you need game plan that can accommodate that. Rich turned it around after being poor kicking team. Change GP"

Well, maybe some of Eade's other comments on Collingwood kicking are relevant here, too... In summary, Eade says:
Lack of skill (turnovers) the main issue.
Need 1-2 good kicks off half back (e.g. Heater).
Adams good player but tries difficult kicks all the time, which is beyond his ability.
Varcoe another turnover merchant.
Steele better on non-preferred side.
