it helps that I actually quite like drip filter coffee. If I was ever going to go postal, pull out a semi auto and hose down a crowd, it wouldn't be a school it would be the queue to get a coffee in Melbourne after listening to all the pretentious wankers making their pretentious orders.
The world would be a better place afterwards |
Couldn't agree more and while you are at swipe the cutesy tips jars while you are at it. I tip for excellent waiter service not for someone to write my name on a cup.
The best coffee I ever had was in a little family run cafe behind a silk sellers shop in Vientaine Laos. I bought some silk for a friend who makes her own clothes and being early the bars , which there are few, were not opened. I found this place and sat down and ordered a ham and tomato baguette and a black coffee. The cup was huge, the baguette was absolutely magnificent, the ham great and the tomato fresh and tasty. The cafe was run my a young mother and her mum and the kids were there and they brought a fan over and everything was great. Cost was total about 4 bucks . The lady spoke some english and she said her Mum and Dad raised pigs and chickens in a farm about 10 kms away and her husband and his father grew vegetables on a lot near the mekong. I ate there twice a day after that. And the coffee blew away the effects of the supern BeerLao from the previous night. The ham and cheese omelette was a winner as well. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Agree. Every time I've travelled to the US, the coffee has been awful.
We take it for granted, but Melbourne has some of the best coffee in the world. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Mate, when you're feeling a tad fragile from the previous night, chewing down your houvos rancheros with a bloody mary on the side, or biscuits and gravy, and the waitress comes over and refills your cup with filter coffee, I'd happily give her a sainthood right there. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I take it you're referring to what the Americans call "biscuits", are you? |

Yeah, they're like a doughy plain scone that needs the gravy for flavour and moisture, but together they taste surprisingly good. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

The white sausage gravy is the bomb. Tried it in a 50's style diner in frisco.
Anyway, today I updated the computer table to a desk, ripped up some carpet, and put the fish tank on a new stand. Mt Wallet won't thank me, but I'm happy with the outcome. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Funny, everyone seems to think you can’t eat well in the USA, it’s simply not true. It’s just there are so many temptations and super size is the serving size in most places. I’ve learnt to order starters, not entrees. Last big trip I lost 2 kg! The one thing the yanks just can’t do is coffee! Oh god their coffee is foul! |
Not sure if you are swinging that way but the Atlanta Car museum seems to have some interesting things for the motor fans. Apparently Nascar (stock car racing) was invented by bootleggers in the 30s as a means to beat the boredom after the cops couldn't catch them. According to Mysteries at the Museum anyway. They have some memorabilia from them. Anyway if you go that way you can get some American Honey, Honey, _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Bugger, went to Atlanta in 2016, missed that. What a shame. And no I didn’t know that, very interesting. They have some amazing car museums.
And I will definitely be getting that honey honey! It’s $20 for a litre! Cheers! Thanks again _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Beau bounced on me at 5.30am when junior went off to work, gave me a big smooch and went to sleep, just as i snoozed off again, hubby slides over, wraps his arm around me and whispers ever so softly in my ear....
did those fire extinguishers you got delivered yesterday come with brackets?
ah yes romance is well and truly alive! But he did bring me home a bunch of Macro Practice, um i mean flowers this evening! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

At point [1], I was going to ask if you're sure it wasn't Beau.
At point [2], well... a dream, perhaps? |
