Other possibilities would be Smith (not sure when he re-signed, but there was no announcement of it as at the 2km time trial) and Oxley who was ultimately drafted in rookie draft. |
Yes, I recall reading the published permission to train lists at the time and thinking it most odd, considering fan reports on the forums were insisting that Ramsay was still training with us, long after his delistment was announced.
Smith and Oxley were already contracted until end of 2018 at the time. The re-rookie in Oxley's case was simply a bit of face-saving and contract honouring... |
Club had Mentioned Ramsey was Training then.....WOOOPS _________________ I am Da Man |

Yes, club apologists have been claiming this means it was money well spent and all part of the grand design. What nonsense!
The extra info about a rival club dobbing our club in is interesting, though. |

So let me get this straight.
We invited him to train with the VFL side in November.
He goes to the training combine in October, on the invitation of another club, which automatically disqualifies him from training with any club leading up to the draft.
Yet he then comes and trains with us in November.
Are our administrators asleep or will it be $10,000 well spent if he turns out any good. |

Well, that's the apologist line, but it's hard to see how that can be true. It'd be insufficient merely for him to turn out really well. Somehow, one'd need to argue that the club would not have been able to make the draft decision any other way than to blow the $10k.
And maybe the club needs to be more wary of oppo spies, if they're going to start playing dobber. |

It was hardly the crime of the century. And if either of those 2 clubs mentioned lagged us in well someone had better have a quiet word about the concessions they get. Particularly Buddy and Tippett wise. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Sydney wouldn't have known Appleby was training with us, whereas North Melbourne, who are just down the road from us and who we beat to get the signatures of Treloar, Aish and WHE, would have known (not that I'm saying it was North who dobbed us in). |

My mistake. It seems it was Sydney who dobbed us in. Why I have no idea. Appleby intended to play vfl with us. If Sydney wasn't prepared to commit to rookie Appleby why wouldn't Appleby make his own decision and play for us? Then Appleby hears there is interest from clubs to rookie him so he attends the rookie me draft combine. I don't see the problem Sydney has with us having Appleby train at Holden Centre. Apologies to North Melbourne. |

There goes another $10k. |
Age is not relevant . So if a few blokes in thir 40 take the kids to watch training and have kick to kick during a break and Maxwell talks to the boys and maybe gives them a tip or 2 are they going to fine us 40k. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |
