Anybody know what the knock was for this bloke? Mooted top 20 in 2016 and doesn't even get rookied? Played ok for Glenelg last year and again passed over. Must be something about his personality maybe? _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

Yeah I remember him being tagged as a top 30 pick. And was hopeful that we'd be able to get him with our pick in the late 20's or early 30's or whatever it was.
Then nothing. Then I was hoping to rookie draft him. Then nothing.
There's still time for him to get into the AFL, but how can you be predicted to be drafted in the top 30 and then not get taken at all? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

No, no, no. It's possible the clubs all think he's at the level just below AFL. When he was first overlooked, there were questions about whether they were scared off by his brother's injuries, but apparently feedback to his manager did not mention that factor. He has been reported to have worked on his kicking and endurance; when you hear that sort of thing, of course, you wonder whether that's code for "his kicking and endurance are weaknesses"... I see an old (Dec. '16) NewsCorp article says: "It is understood the knock on 183cm Scharenberg is a lack of pace and inability to hurt the opposition".
If that's all true, you can see why the clubs are reluctant. |

^ How much do you think physical characteristics are shared within a family? I'm trying to think of examples of footballing brothers that are markedly different in physical attributes... |

How's his SANFL season going in 2018? Any chance as a mature age recruit? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

I look back at this question and think of the Flips and the Langdons. The Flips have the same physical attribute: aerobic capacity. They really don't look like each other, though... I don't think I would have guessed they were brothers if I had not known beforehand. |
