Good job Stu, good deed, good Karma!

My Eldest sisters birthday today, (yes i give her separate pressies!!) and since they still have no power apart from a generator, i put together a BBQ, salads and dessert and we drove up there for a visit. They dont know what the insurance result is yet, whether it will repaired or be written off completely, its an old house and its in a maximum bushfire standards area so meeting code could prove difficult. but i was relieved to find them in relatively good spirits!

couple of pics from the workshop i did at melbourne zoo this week: Macro lens

400mm zoom

itchy!

Nice Pics

Christmas prep underway.

Turkey in oven cooking, pork belly has been prepped and is sitting in a dish of apple juice and seasoning with a tea towel over the top to dry out the oiled and salted skin.

Salads all made so all I have to do tomorrow is cook the pork and glaze and cook the ham once my uncle arrives with it, then carve and serve. As a surprise to mum, the kids came over today to help me get the old treadmill off the back deck, downstairs to the shed. Had to pick the bastard up over the side of the deck and pass it down. That wasn't the surprise though, while they were here in labouring mode, I got them to help me take my lounge suite out of the back room, over the deck balcony and bring in her old lounge suite from Toc which was in the shed still in the removalists wrapping.

My lounge suite got stacked on the lawn and after the kids left, I moved some shit around and carried and stacked all the pieces up off the floor.

I'm fkn sore, but mum is rapt, it's like she's got her own little lounge room with her stuff.

If my poor old lounge could talk, geezus it's seen some action. 6 seater bergundy 1/4 circle 3 piece unit. I got it when I first renovated the back probably 13 years ago and despite some serious parties out there (my son was reminiscing while helping me move it and wondering out loud why both he and the lounge are still in one piece and working order) it is in surprisingly good nick.

Can you tell us more about it?

Sure, it was taken with my Canon 700D and a Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens. I took quite a few that came out quite well but i love this one, it looks like he is sucking a licorice wheel! i had the camera about 8 inches from the butterfly. I was struggling a bit trying to keep the camera steady, And the instructor showed me how to use my other arm as a brace.

this is kinda cute but a little bright for my liking!

I absolutely love taking Macro shots, i used to take them on an old basic SLR we bought yonks ago,i took these on that camera:

and with a Raynox DCR250

this was taken with the Canon 700d and full zoom on the 55-250 kit lens, its not bad!! Now i have the Macro i want to go back and take some more!

Now that i have a better handle on how to use the settings i cant wait to go looking for things! bugs, flowers, pretty much anything. I also bought a gimmicky macro lens which is incredibly hard to focus with ( Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro Lens for Canon EF) but i took some pics of ants on the kitchen bench (!) and you can actually see the insides of them like its an xray! when i get a really good one ill post it!

thankyou for commenting, and you too Stui.

Blimey. Sometimes I think love is just a biological urge. Other times LOVE seems like a spiritual quality. Love, unlike energy or matter, seems limitless.
