To be released next week, is the word.

https://twitter.com/PaulAmy375/status/937509018330738688

The weekend of AFL Round 3, where we play Carlton on a Friday night, just in case you didn't have it committed to memory.

Three byes is, at first glance, maybe too many, but with the competition reverting back to an odd number of teams (15) it was inevitable. Actually, three byes was an under-recognised element in our Top 2 finish in 2016. The third bye fell almost smack bang in the middle of our 10 week finish to the home and away season. It divided the run home up into month long manageable chunks and allowed a young team quite often short on AFL hardened manpower to blast teams with a very physically taxing gameplan for a month, then take a week off to reload, then go again.

The downside of 3 byes again, of course, is that we're almost certain to see the ridiculous scenario where the team has an enforced week off on the last weekend of May for state representative football, then a second bye just three weeks later by club demand...

Am hoping for Dave's sake that we make a trip to Frankston to play the returning Dolphins. Won't cop any train replacement buses that way...

Big news...

https://twitter.com/VictoriaParkHC/status/958167097623719936

Awesome result! Takes games back to our true home ground and in the process removes two clash of fixtures (previously, these two VFL games were set down for a Sunday twilight start of 5:30pm, which would have seen them begin as the corresponding senior games were still underway).

The change of fixtures means that only two of our eight home games are now set down for Olympic Park/Holden Centre. And both of those (vs Geelong on Sunday May 13th and vs the Blues on Sunday June 24th) are set down as "MCG/Olympic Park". Which means, if we could just get the MCC to come to the party (and maybe the AFLPA as well), we could potentially get two actual curtain-raisers to round out our allocation of home games and not actually play on our training track...

In addition, there has subsequently been a ‘reversal’ of the venue for the return game against Collingwood later in the year.

Initially set to be held on Sunday, August 12th (Round 19) at Victoria Park at 1:00pm, that game will now take place on Saturday, August 11th at North Port Oval at 2:00pm.

We do. Olympic Park.

Fixture updated accordingly (though I could have sworn it previously had been)...
