Ask them questions about fridge magnets, caps and why we didn't Bontempelli after another side picked him before our turn. That should help fill up with evening with the usual WOFTAM. Then add a few about why my seat is not in the bar/presidents box/next to the coach etc.

Ask them if someone is getting fired for thinking that they had to consider Nathan Murphy at pick 6!!!!

Can someone also ask why we weren't told about every single clause in Jarryd Blair's contract up front so that we could prepare for the possibility that his one year deal might be extended to 2 years.

We deserve to know this shit!

Before we discuss Jarryd Blair's contract and whether Nathan Murphy deserved to be drafted at pick 6 someone should quiz Eddie why he tells racial jokes. Then we can have a debate about the two Iraqi gulf wars and the evils of George W Bush. We should follow that up with an equally important topic of, was Nathan Buckley really a good kick?

After that we come to the really important discussion of the night, which is why someone didn't have the same seats in the Ponsford stand as the previous year.

i thought Warbuton Lad unequivocally proved that he wasn't a great kick for goal after he missed a couple of shots on goal from 60 out at Training on the 4th....

It's only been chicken-feeding time because the chickens have made it so. It won't be so if some of the chickens fly up and peck the feeders' eyes out... Okay, that's too extreme, but maybe they should fly up, and squark and flap their wings in the feeders' faces --- more swooping magpie than docile chicken.

The first task is simply to get in any serious & relevant questions ahead of members who seem to want to earn the favour of Eddie or Bucks by rambling on and on about how much they love them and the club. This type of declaration of love (as well as questions about membership, etc., esp. when no membership staff are there) just runs down the clock and wastes whatever opportunity there is... Nicksters, get in questions before these people, cut them off, silence them with your club-issued scarves, do what it takes...

Some (seriously intended) questions that come to mind:

Question M1:

What is the plan for the club doctor position? When did Chris Bradshaw know there was a problem, and when did the club know? If he regains his legal ability to practise medicine, will he resume his position at the club? [Currently, the sole club doctor is Greg Shuttleworth.]

More generally, is the club satisfied with the performance of its medical staff, including the specialists (surgeons, etc.) whose services it uses? For example, Jamie Elliott first injured his ankle in February and this was dismissed as quite minor, but now it'll be next February at best before it's fixed. Are all his ongoing ankle problems related, and were they managed as well as they could have been?

Question M2:

Why has the club not hired a sports psychologist, despite having done so successfully in the past (and despite other clubs doing so now)? Several past and current players (Fasolo, Cloke, Ben Kennedy) have suffered depression in their time at the club. Yet, as far as I am aware, there hasn't been a proper sports psychologist since Simon Lloyd departed in 2010.

[David Stiff doesn't count, and he's long gone anyway.]

Question P1:

To Bucks: Is there evidence that the players' kicking skills have undergone real and continuing improvement? At a previous Member Forum, you said that they had and that it takes time for people's perceptions to adjust to this. Well, another year has passed and the perceptions are still the same. Kick rating stats this year suggest Pendlebury was best, but he's always been that good. Those stats also suggest Crisp was one of the worst in the AFL this year.

Question B1:

[To Eddie, Peter & Mark:] What steps have been taken to ensure that the club acts professionally, making decisions according to proper process rather than one person's whim and fancy, with a strong board and accountability? There have been good signs under Peter Murphy's interim CEOship, but how do we know this will continue?

Question B2:

To Mark Anderson: Many people still consider Swimming Australia to be in turmoil. What mistakes have you made and what have you learnt from them? Bill Sweetenham, the former head coach, called for you to resign. According to the media, coaches have felt alienated, complaining that they and the swimmers don't see much of that $38 million budget, and have left in droves to coach for other nations. Also, why have swimmers been missing drug tests under your watch?

...

Without causing a riot on here it is obvious that the great problem at Collingwood is the absolute faith in personalities by the fans as opposed to good governance and proper administration. There is always a savior out there either on the admin or playing side. It is the cult of the personality that rules at pieland and the majority of fans support it. A couple of questions at the end of the year will not cut the mustard. Ask questions at a politician meeting and you will get the stock standard answers as prepared by the minders.

But the politician analogy suggests it does matter. What do politicians prefer: being grilled in televised debates, or kissing babies in front of the cameras? It's a problem for the democratic process and the functioning of the nation, if in the debate the political journalists get waylaid by people jumping on stage and thrusting babies into the arms of the politicians for them to kiss.

It's a misnomer that only the sycophants and Nathan Buckley lovers turn up to these meetings. It's hardly going to be self congratulating given we finished 13th on the ladder. Hopefully someone asks some tough questions along the lines that K raises. But the members forum is more about the players and where the team is heading into next year, rather than the admin side and the financials which is left for the AGM. The sky isn't falling in as far as the team goes so I really don't think there's much to raise by the members that the club wouldn't be aware of. It's more a case of an information night in bringing the members up to speed with what's going on at the club with regard to the playing group and plans for next year.
