This guy is strong, courageous, confident, committed and skilled. When you watch his footage and compare with some on our list who went around in the VFL in 17 you regret we didn't take him last year.

It sounds as though we were tossing up between Mihocek and Schade this time last year.

We all know how that went. Take 2...

In Mihocek, I reckon we may just have a ready-made replacement for Dunn, when he probably retires in a couple of years. He looks strong, assured, a great contested mark and a good decision-maker. AFL is very different to VFL, but I have a feeling this kid may just cut the mustard.

I guess one difference is that at least Miochek hadn't already been delisted by another struggling AFL club.

I'm not potting Schade cause he gave it his best but I was never really a fan.
The few VFL games I have seen, Miochek at least, looked a class above.
I would be surprised if he doesn't get elevated at some point during the 2018 season.

Schade had his good points but I thought for his height he should have taken more marks. Also his recovery when out of position or away from the ball was never that good and reminded me of Jack Frost. Miochek at least is a good mark for his size and is a good anticipator of the flight of the ball. The real test will be against the Sydney Swans if he plays against Buddy Franklin. That would scare anybody. Schade did well against him and I see Schade scored Copeland trophy votes for the Swans game. After that Schade had quiet games which saw him lose his spot. If Miochek manages to break into the senior side he needs to grasp his opportunity, which Schade was unable to do, because at his age (25) you really get only one opportunity.

Think perseverance as applied to rookies we got
Think Nick Maxwell--a handy rookie
Think Sam Dwyer --serviceable
Think Matty Boyd 290+games at Dogs

Now this mature age defender

Done well we have

I think this means that Reid is out. Cox looks too happy in the photo to be the omission.

Or you could read it as Brody is going over to cox because he is taking his spot but cox doesn't care as he isn't being omitted just out for a rest and knows his spot in the team is safe... Who knows time will tell

One thing that worries me is he had15 touches at 67% with 2 goals so that means without the goals had 13 touches of which only 8 were effective. At Vfl level.
