Always try the natural healing first. It failed, now surgery. |

Yeah. While this is upsetting news for Jamie Elliot and the team, this is great news for Jarryd Blair. He should contact his agent now and renegotiate his contract. There's a good chance now he can negotiate a 10 year extension on his contract which can take him through to 2028.
He should take his cue from Shaun Marsh who has just made his eighth comeback into the Australian test cricket team. Assuming Marsh fails against England this summer and gets dropped, Marsh can look forward to making his ninth comeback into the Australian test cricket team in the summer of 2018.
Good on you Jarryd mate. Look forward to watching you in 2018 and in the coming years. |

Disappointing news, but the fact that he will return to full training by late January makes me optimistic that he will be ready to go for round 1. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

So Jamie had his 8 week or so holiday jetting around the world with a dodgy ankle, comes back and realises his ankle is stuffed. No wonder Walshy was pi5sed off. |

If only...
Let's hope that's how it turns out.
For those easily frightened, there are uncomfortable parallels with the history of a certain Carlton player. |

I agree that it's reasonable to try the conservative approach first, as surgery carries its own risks.
But he first injured his ankle in February. The question is whether his current problems stem from that. If so, it's fair to ask whether this injury was treated properly at the time. |

Jamie's featured in Episode 4 of The Grind [starting around 7:53]. Some snippets:
Quote: | "We had a chat that I could probably get through seasons but I'd be playing at 85 per cent. Where if I'm playing I want to be at 100 per cent," Elliott said.
"If I can't jump, or I can't sprint or I can't change direction, I can't bring my best."
Elliott said he was "naive" with the soreness he was experiencing prior to the beginning of pre-season after suffering the ankle injury late in the Pies' 2017 campaign.
"During the off-season it felt ok when I was running and then I'd run and it would feel a bit uncomfortable," he said.
"But I guess I was a bit naive. I could still run and I thought, 'Maybe it's not something?'
"But then when I came back and we got another scan and had a look at it, we basically said we've got time now to get it right and be 100 per cent.
"Or we can let it grumble along and, potentially, it might be right. But it's better off we go and see a surgeon and get a third opinion and see what he says.
"And the rest is history.
"They went in and fixed it up, so hopefully I've got a brand new ankle." |

No indication of how the ankle felt when he was peeing while drunk... |

The following is a fortnight old, but I previously missed the time-frame mentioned.
Quote: | Walsh also said Fasolo's fellow forward Jamie Elliott may be sidelined until late March as he recovers from an ankle operation.
