I'm assuming Josh Smith will be renewed for 2018, if not already? _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Josh Smith is (apparently) uncontracted, but training (see tweeted pic today of 2km time trial).
I assume that means he is likely to be drafted in the rookie draft given that we have only 4 [EDIT] spots available on the primary list.
Remember that under the new CBA the distinction between primary listed and rookie listed players seems to be pretty much non-existent for purposes of who can be selected in the senior side. _________________ All We Can Be |

The list is updated to include our new draftees who are automatically given two-year contracts as per AFL rules. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Err... Varcoe? Again? A bit puzzling...
Update:
"The Magpies are also understood to have extended respected speedster Travis Varcoe's contract out until the end of 2019." (Peter Ryan.)
But when was his 2018 contract agreed upon? Seems not so long ago. |

Varcoe's contract was extended to 2018 back in September last year. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

^ I was about to say "And nothing (ahem...) has really happened since September." But of course the big thing that has happened is that Ned Guy has started for real. |

Scharenberg and JDG to go then we have locked away the important cogs in our next premiership tilt.
I remember reading in the preseason somewhere that Scharenberg and the club had both agreed to let him play some football first before starting to talk contract which made sense given his injury history but I reckon his proved his worth. I would be signing him now (or at least tabling a offer) before his form continues to improve to such a point he will be getting massive offers from SA
His value is rising each week
JDG should have been signed by now but his own poor behaviour and the clubs stance on that matter have now conspired to put us in a delicate situation.
His form has been very good and his worth growing by the week. The club made a strong stance and he paid a price for his stupidity but right now we need to put aside those feelings about him earning the respect yadda yadda
Sit him down and say ok mate we've stood by you when you needed some tou love. We needed you to understand no one is big than the club but you've showed your commitment to rebuilding that trust and worked hard to show your team mates your a valuable part of the club. Now we want you to show some loyalty to them. Here's a 5 year deal starting at $650k and some incentives if you make AA or win a Copeland that can see you get that contract to $800k a season. Now sign on the dotted line and let's get set for a finals charge |

Agree. I am worried about how JDG perceives all this clap trap about "winning back respect". I hope to God he is not resentful, but instead views it as a motivational factor. Not sure that we should limit him to $800k either.
Make the upper threshold whatever it takes to get him to sign. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

I was a bit surprised Langdon hasn't been mentioned in contract negotiations |
