Actually, the news is not that lots of people in academia have dumb and extreme opinions, but that their dumb and extreme opinions are overwhelmingly on one side of the political spectrum. The long marchers began to colonise and dominate education long ago, and their intellectual desert is now largely complete. Its always interesting to see the panic in graduates eyes when they get to the workplace and see actual diversity of thought expressed by people who have learnt to tolerate, and even entertain, contrary opinions.

Sounds horrible at first, but you can use vegemite as a substitute for beef stock (stir a teaspoon into a cup of boiling water, it's surprisingly like Bonox) and you can already get beef and cheese pies, so it's not actually that bad. I'd try one.

Me too. I must be one of the most un-Australian people you will meet, I cannot stand Vegemite, Paul Kelly or beer.

%$^$%^&%%, what's wrong with you people.

grandson came over at lunchtime as his Dad has work tonight and won't be here for dinner. I made him a cheese and vegemite sandwich and he devoured it.

You should sue your parents.

How the phuck can you not like vegemite? Vegemite on toast with a cup of tea is a great weekend breakfast starter.

Yeah, Vegemite on thick white toast with lots of real butter is one of lifes great simple pleasures.

Its almost worth a thread in its own right - where do you fail the real Australian test ? My two entries are being allergic to prawns and being unable to swim.

Vegemite can go and get stuffed.

The smell alone makes me gag.

Give me devilled ham, honey or jam.

Its rather good just eaten out of the jar, with a spoon. Almost as tasty as Saunders Malt Extract With Cod Liver Oil.

Yum, my mum used to feed us a teaspoon of cod liver oil and malt every morning!

Not a massive vegimite fan, but dont hate it! Needs lots of butter!
