I think some of you are selling him short. Give him three years and he could play the "Tony Armstrong Role" for the Club.

Jokes aside, is past cocaine possession of no concern to anyone?

Quite honestly, I wouldn't worry myself about that.

This sounds a bit Robbo-esque.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or flippant...

AP, I see... FGTC, I thought you might say, only because he got caught...

FWIW, here are the AFL's statistics for 2005-13. This was prior to hair testing. The stats are consistent with the claim that cocaine is the drug of choice. Is pot for poor people?

Year Total Tests Total Failed 2nd Failed 3rd Failed Failed Tests %

2005 472 19 3 0 4.03
2006 486 9 0 0 1.85
2007 1152 14 3 0 1.2
2008 1220 12 2 0 0.98
2009 1568 14 2 0 0.89
2010 1654 6 1 1 0.36
2011 1489 6 0 0 0.40
2012 1979 26 2 0 1.31
2013 1998 15 1 0 0.75

2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013
Cannabinoids 6 0 4 3 1 1 0 0 0

I'm not sure what FGTC means, but I could tell you who the main source of distribution was within the club at the time and several names of those he regularly partied with on our list. No prizes for guessing who amongst them though.

You might also refer to Pert's comments about player behaviour in the off-season as a sign of the persistent problem that the club has had.

I don't think that Collingwood is unique in this respect. It's pretty clear that all clubs have had problems and would continue to. It's widespread in society and young blokes with cash, in high pressure roles and skin fold requirements are going to be attracted. The testing is pretty ineffective and players are generally pretty street smart. Not sure Ben Cousins ever tested positive, nor Lance Armstrong.

He slept in and missed training and fell out of favour once the team started winning every week.

He seemed to pay a high price for that sleep in, it was hard to believe he never got back in. He is a serious talent and would be great for Collingwood. Was excellent in second half of 2016 before being injured for the grand final when he was a regular in that Swams team. He can really run and would allow us a lot more flexibility with Howe.
