I hope. Already been offered $1000 each if Richmond and/or Adelaide make it.

These people piss me off. But I'm not adverse to taking their money. Razz

Mancold is manflu.
Picked it up on the bike ride.
Had the work based injection some months ago but there are 4 typrs of flu, mine came from QLD right in the heart of Texas.
Coughing up more plegm than there are moustaches in the middle east.
I'm not usually that phlegmatic about it but thems the breaks
My last week was Long service leave
Meant to start 4 nights night shift M, T, W & Thursday
Taking Mon & Tuesday nights off sick & will make a decision tomorrow late pm about Wed night
Still have some fluid like sounds in one of my lungs but this has improved since last week & my second course of anti-biotics.
Still freely coughing up shite that th cough medicine is assisting but not fixing
Night sweats have reduced but not quite ceased.
My blood pressure which has historically been fine (120-130 / 80-90) is a bit low: currently 107/67.

Looks like the waste water outlet is blocked again. Probably tree roots.

The gully trap under the back deck is overflowing so the pipe is backing up. Mad have to get a bloke in with one of them long auger cables. No real urgency, the few turds popping up are less than the dog makes and between the shower and washing machine water it's not hurting the garden.

You can do the thing with the auger cable yourself, Stui. The gear is readily available at any of the usual equipment hire places.

One word of advice: don't. It's hard, dirty, tedious, and bloody frustrating. Sure, it will save you about 50% of what a professional would charge you. But trust me, you'll very quickly wish you hadn't cheapskated. It's a rotten job.

And this from a bloke that is usually happy to take on most jobs: I'm happy to do roofing, fencing, construction, bricklaying, concreting, plastering (real plastering, not just crappy plasterboard), tree felling, painting, tractor servicing, you name it. I'd be comfortable doing a fair bit of electrical and plumbing work too except that it's a good way to invalidate your insurance. Not worth the risk. Besides, I have a good mate who is a plumber. I do his computers, he does my plumbing, all on mate's rates. Sweet.

Doing your own drain clearance: just say no.

Stui, if you were on my side of town, I'd do a good deal for you. I average 2-3 sewer blockages a week. Shouldn't have to pay more than $220, I charge around $180. Go a small operator, the larger mobs try to get a dig-out with every blockage, absolute rogues.

And you'd pay $80 or $120 to hire the equipment. Bit of a no-brainer.

- and snap a rod in the drain and require a dig-up. Bit of a no-brainer. Smile

I think he was suggesting, based on his previous post, it's a no brainer to hire someone who knows what they're doing.

And I will.

Like Tannin I'll do a lot of home maintenance myself, but I know my limitations. I ain't touching this.

talking to people who don't seem to understand what i'm talking about.

2 examples in the last few days, neither of which I'll go into but I ask for them to do stuff which in my brain is quite simple but get met with blank looks, repeated providing of stuff which was nice but not what I asked for in the remotest stretch or just plain obfuscation.

I asked one of my direct reports today,

"I need you to give me a direct answer, have I developed a speech impediment or am I speaking a language other than English, I seem to be speaking Swahili with a creole accent considering the comprehension I'm getting"

She reassure me that she had no issues deciphering my requests/directions (and there's clear evidence of that from what she provides when I ask) so the problem was clearly elsewhere.

Maybe I need to try a different language. I've tried plain English, I've tried dumbed down, I've tried pretending i was explaining to a 10 year old. I'm getting close to trying a 12 volt battery with jumper leads or a double 4x2 ear massage. Mad
