As a provocative blog post or published think-piece, such a paper would (I hope) widely be considered tolerable (even if many would vehemently argue against it), and I even agree with some of it. It certainly deals with a number of questions I've wondered about in the past re: equal gender representation in industries, which I feel are taboo and shouldn't be.
But as a circulated work memo making claims such as "women on average are more neurotic than men" and the kind of assertions about male and female behaviour that belong in a pick-up artist manual I can kind of see the argument that it's inappropriate. In this climate of hair-trigger sackings because of politically incorrect Twitter posts and the like, this guy was always going to get fired.
I think that's a system we need to fight back against as a whole, whatever side of politics the person in question happens to be on. But at the end of the day this was about an employer and a workplace memo they didn't like kind of an in-house issue, really.

Google's code of conduct is pretty clear.

Under US employment laws, sending that memo was the equivalent of mooning the CEO. They can afford to pick and choose their employees, so a quick clean kill sets the example clearly for the others .
I love the bits in the code of conduct about cats and weapons (two separate bits BTW)

I do like their dog policy  ..although as you can imagine its going to bring them a sh!t load of trouble with certain minorities who must never be offended....perhaps HR hasn't quite got to it yet.....

Next door was auctioned this morning. Sold for $839k. It's a small 2 bedroom unit. 
The property market is crazy. Makes me wonder how our kids will ever get into it.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that their motto is "don't be evil"? Like, is it a challenge for them not to be?

They encourage dobbing but don't like you pashing the person in the next cubicle. Thw whole thing is worse than the Australian Public Service code of conduct. The ethics department looks like it has become a self licking icecream.

Maybe, I don't know. I guess it's close to the city, but is that even an appeal these days? Everything seems close now. My sister bought a 2 storey, 5 bedroom house in Blackburn for much lass than that 2 years ago. And it's only 10 minutes further east.
It certainly is crazy.

Fly into Singapore and you see heaps of ships.
The US Navy tend to bully other ships and who knows the make up of the crew of the Liberian critter.
Whatever happens the Captain of the US ship will be big trouble.At best he can expect to get sent to Washington to write navigational safety manuals.

Amazing how common this kind of thing is in more traditional societies. I saw a Vice documentary on it some time ago.
