Kerect weight.

Played in the TAC Cup and had to do a bit of travel to get to games and train.

I read an article by Pendles who said when he came to the club he was way behind the other first year players for endurance, but way ahead of them for strtength.

I'd like to give him a taste with a few games later this season, just so he can see for himself what's needed and can hit the training track over summer with enthusiasm. he doesn't need to be a marathon runner like Sidey if he can burst run and recover quickly like Swanny to do it again.

Correct weight. He's not ready yet. He looks terrific but a year in the 2's is just what's needed.

Of course we are all impatient to see him get a game, and we can only hope that he is impatient too. That's as it should be. However, while we are desperately still trying to win senior games, it's no time to be experimenting with a kid who is not quite ready. If he gets a senior game before the end of the year, well and good, but if not, it's not a bad thing, as it will give him something to aim for over the pre-season. If he can stay on track and keep developing as he has been, especially in doing all the defensive two way running required of modern senior footy, then we will have a monster ready to unleash next year. Make no mistake, the Kirbinator is the real deal.

Yes, 5 goals in game one and was well held for only 4 goals in his second.

For me and not wanting to put too much pressure on the kid, he's the best prospect in last years draft for Collingwood.

Kirby needs to learn the requirements of playing at this level & the next and he's come a long way so far. Good on him, he's putting in the hard yards & he's learning every week.

Kirby needs to play now, the current team is not good enough to get near finals and it's time to let go and show some vision for the future of the club. The future of the club is important.

If the club is worried about Kirby's fitness, play him from the goal square like Dangerfield against the Hawks.

Show some left-field thinking Pies. Enough of this boring stuff. There is literally nothing to lose now. Actually, the opposite. Even if we lose we win (in higher draft picks).

The only thing that would stop kids getting picked thiis week would be Buckley's thinking that he needs more wins to keep his job. That would be putting the individual before the club. Our club is in a pretty sorry state if that's the case.

the problem is that, just like Cox, if you arent fit, you will constantly be playing 17 on 18 when the ball goes the other way. that is a sure fire way to bleed goals on the counter. Actually its worse when its a smaller player because he will be playing on a running player.

Bring him in when he is ready. Long term, its much better if he comes in when he is ready to be an AFL player. Give him every chence to be a great player, rather than exposing him to criticism early in his career that he wont be able to shake.

It's not the fitness I don't think. It's about confidence. I don't want the see the kid get smashed. Three's plenty of time IMO. He's got to learn how to play against a hard tag. Kirby also needs to learn to curb his reactions when being challenged / l;earn not to get sucked in. Play him when we are winning so he can play in a winning team & let his confidence grow that way.

If they choose to play him then good on him.

After 2 months of selection-worthy performances, he had a bit of a stinker last weekend. Going by our selection history, he's a shoe-in to debut this week

Life as a small forward is often either a drought or flood when it comes to goal scoring opportunities especially so at a young age.

I assume we all remember Leon at the same stage?

Still it gets a little tiring hearing about all the areas Kirby needs to improve in or why he should be held back.

How about the selectors just focus on the positives and that despite his limitations at present he's still our leading goal kicker for the year and has displayed an ability to create opportunities for himself whether it be by a high flying mark, a chase down tackle or a crumbing goal.

He isn't a one dimensional forward prospect.

I'd debut him this week in a game against interstate opposition and see how he goes alongside our two other creative small forwards who are in decent form in a game where a couple of indigenous role models in Wells and Varcoe will also be present.
