No wonder both these coaches will be unemployed at the end of the season if that's how they saw the game. Not a single person I was with (11) had Sidey as our best let alone the best on ground.
Our hosts asked everyone to do a 3-2-1 and the first drawn person who had in correct order the total vote tally won a signed Suns jersey (glad I didn't win btw)
It finished Ablett Adams Faz
12 people giving out 6 votes each total 72 votes Sidey mustered 2 votes and 1 of those was from me but he wasn't our best I had Adams ahead of him and Ablett next best in a beaten side
Copeland wise I have Pendles Treloar Adams all ahead of Sidey with Howe and Grundy being smokies Sidey will finish 3rd or 4th he won't win. His first 8-10 games were only average last few have been good but he is starting a very long way back

I must say it caught me by surprise too.

Possibly he had some sort of role playing on Hall or Hanley?
Because those two were very disappointing.

I thought Pendle's was in BOG contention at the time of his injury, yet the commentators were being critical of his meters gained.

Looking at the Gavin Brown Medal there really is a large range of voting, so I guess it was that kind of game.

What surprised me more is that Reid got a vote in the Coaches Award.
Sure his final quarter impact was crucial to the result but the bulk of his contribution was a couple of soft frees from the goal square.

BTW I thought Jack Martin was fantastic, and that kid Ben Ainsworth is going to be a star.

Adams, Treloar and Sidey.

*Pies4, Goldy should be on 5 votes. Smile

Fixed Goldy's votes, Donny - thanks.

CC it is funny how different people from coaches to commentators to supporters all see things differently.
The coaches both gave Sidey 5 votes yet he didn't win the match day award from either major newspaper or the radio station covering the game in fact he didn't receive a vote from the radio station. Fox footy didn't give him any votes either but they always seem to (even when we win) give us nothing they had Ablett the best in a losing side from Adams and Pendles

Over in big footy voting in the Didak medal he has limited votes
and only a handful of people voted him BOG. He's currently sitting 6th in that medal race a long way back from Pendles and if we did the GB medal count up to date here I would imagine he would be 4th or 5th here as well.
I watched it live and fhought Adams was our best played his best game in some time after a few very poor performances.
I had JDG next in line then a toss up with Pendles Sidey Scharenberg all playing good games but that's just my opinion.

I had Sidey and Adams as easily our two best players with JDG and Fasolo a bit behind. No problems with the radio stations giving Ablett the award as you could have raffled the bog between Sidey and Ablett. I thought the coaches awards were spot on with the votes but it depends a lot on your vantage point on the ground, whether you are watching on the TV and the personal bias you have towards the players.

On the night I thought Rusty & Tay were clearly our best players... Pendles looked injured after half time and Faz had an "almost" game... in other words he almost did all sorts of stuff but it just never quite fell for him!

Maybe, you should go to the footy with more knowledgable friends. Wink

In the GB voting, 22 members voted. Eleven gave Sidey the 5 votes and six, the 4. He also notched 12 minor votes.

Fair enough Donny but the people there th majority were Suns supporters in the box that is.
I give him votes just from my vantage point I didn't think he was near our best

Adams, Treloar and Sidey.

I wrote that after reading an early assessment of the skipper's injury. Was along the lines of 'Pendles out indefinitely'.

Seems, now, it's not that serious.

Any games you miss will hurt you in the Copeland trophy, so the one game Howe missed will hurt and the couple Pendles misses now will hurt. Adams has had a poor middle part of the season while Treloar is having a poor second half of the season because of his restricted movement. Goldy will make up the top 10 but Sidey is in the box seat to win the award and shut up all the critics who want to trade him.

He'd be running about equal 4th. with Grundy. Both are way behind the top 3.
