There is no but and no excuse. Unless he heard it come out of Bens mouth he should not have commented. I thought Bucks was better than that in the media. Along with the comment about age of the players I'd say he's starting to panic.

One player doesn't lose a game. A game is 4 long quarters, and played at both ends.

A coach can lose a game though, playing the wrong players, playing term out of position, or giving them incomprehensible directions.

I just watched the last quarter and I was gobsmacked at the lack of a 50m penalty for Fasolo when Burton was pinged for hands in the back on the 50, and Burton then simply placed the ball on the ground rather than handing it back. It was injury related, but the rules are that a failure to pass the ball back to the player in possession commands 50m. I am surprised this has not been commented upon more. It was a critical moment.

It's Collingwood Stupid!!! Shocked BTW Mug.It's a Bill Clinton quote and no malice intended. Very Happy

^ yep, recognised the quote, mudlark. I never think umpires are biased (that mark to McEvoy which resulted in a goal to Sidebottom was a howler in the opposite direction), but the failure to enforce the rule in that Burton case was glaring, as though they just fell asleep.

I'm confused how the fact that Benny has played in 1 win this season comes into the selectors thinking.
The fact that it was communicated to Benny as he is being told he is dropped is outrageous.
How Lynden Dunn is preferred to Ben Reid for that role is beyond belief.
I reckon Dunn would be the most surprised of them all !

Okay, so... watched the game on monday after recording it from Foxtel on the sunday arvo.

Yeah still don't know what to make of it; thought it all came down to Whorethorn goals from turnovers [read: inept disposal].
When Pendles, Treloar, Sidey and Howe all collectively slaughter the pill and drop sitter marks, well, we aren't going to win, simple as that.
Don't think many players performed badly as such, just made some poor decisions which seemed to impact against us on the scoreboard.

Remember, two players short on the bench in the last quarter did not help!

And dropping Ben Reid to the VFL was always going to blow up in his face; he deserved that. FAIL.

I hope the players realise that they have just brought about the demise of the coaching career of our greatest ever player. Sad days ahead.

That remains to be seen; will depend on their application to the task between now and the conclusion of the season. If the blow-outs start this week, then yes his is a deadman walking.

And he'd want to ease up on the team selection idiocy each week too.
If you ain't crushing it in the VFL the week prior, then I see little reason or justification for promotion to the seniors.

My real complaint is that the football we play is utterly joyless.

Watching us play is just awful. I get almost no joy out of it. I have had to watch some fairly dour awful teams, in my time, but there was always something to hang your hat on.... I just don't see it anymore.

Win or lose, that is the saddest thing because I am just losing interest.

Hearing you; I now watch our games on TV with little or no passion.
It is becoming a chore indeed; and judging by the ever dwindling crowd numbers, we aren't alone here.

Absolutely spot on.
I noticed it during the game and was not happy.

And that giant shit lump Hodge kicking the ball away after the whistle had gone in our favour [lol!], when was it, in the 2nd quarter? No penalty.

The umpiring in the last three weeks has been just beyond cheating....

Hate to say it, but I posted the fact that we had lost more games with Reid playing in the backline a few weeks ago - my thoughts were to play him forward line, not drop him to twos...
