Sounds like it was a hear stopper!
Lets back it up at the G for the daily double!

Only stayed to halftime.
Never thought of Keefe as a forward but he was prepared to bust open packs and could beat his opponent one on one. Would love it if he had a few more kilos on him.
Mayne looks AFL standard.
Can't wait for Varcoe to be back in the firsts. He breaks the lines.
Was Howe in the ruck? Whoever it was, he dominated. |

Had to work this morning, so only managed to catch the last 40 minutes. It's a pity I missed the majority of what seemed a cracking match, but I'm glad I least got to see some of it. The roar alone following the 'dogs hitting the post to give us the win after the siren made it worth going and I must say it was good to get one back on the 'dogs.
Thoughts on that last 40 minutes:
Scharenberg - a real general down back
Mayne - looked to play mostly as a lead up forward, presented well, but like a lot of our forwards (Keeffe, Kirby) was forced to stretch for the mark as the kick was just that bit high meaning he dropped more than he took.
Blair - put his body on the line when needed and was pretty good from the small bit I seen - what you'd expect from him
White - alternated between ruck and forward, got a bit of the footy around the ground and presented well with a few nice marks. Also snapped a nice goal that Kirby unselfishly let bounce through in the goal square
Keeffe - was our main focal point in the forward line, presented well and took some strong grabs, juggled and dropped a couple of others though with kick being that bit high. Certainly improving as a forward though, hopefully his goal kicking follows
Wills - a real brute, able to get and keep his hands clear in the stoppages getting a few telling knocks and clever handballs out of the congestion. Fitness pending he should be considered for a senior recall soon especially after the way the hawks took us apart in that area today
Kirby - presented well, but had to stretch for more marks than I would have liked. Battled hard when the footy hit the deck too with his repeat efforts rewarded with a nicely snapped goal in the last quarter
McLarty - has really strong hands
Of our VFL players Hellier, Smith, Tardrew and Borthwick done some nice things and I thought Howe was important in the ruck - as talented as Lynch and McCarthy look Howe added much needed ascendancy. |

I only saw the second half & Blair played a very good game - he wasn't going for marks. Put his body on the line, ran hard and made opportunities. Wills played a very good game too. _________________ âI even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didnât keep âem under long enoughâ Kinky Friedman |

Let me clarify. I wasn't ignoring it. I thought he was workman like, which is what you would expect.
But, the VFL bests are always a raffle and quite often throw up exasperating results. McLarty, for example, was very stiff. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |
