So disappointing. Essendon showed how to beat these guys, and that's to go at break-neck speed. Not once did we try to play like this. We had more possessions but just kept on kicking it to stationary targets, not playing on enough...that decision by Reid not to kick it to Fas in a 1on1 was the worst one. Reid is very slow even for a big man, and I suspect the end has come quickly for him.

The decision to drop Shaz was disgraceful. The kid needs more games into him and is infinitely better than Langdon, who is a slow in every aspect and burns the footy. He couldn't keep up with any of the Port small forwards, and just goes backwards all the time.
Grundy has no idea how to hit tap-outs to advantage.
Crocker is not up to the standard. Kirby would be a much better option but that would require our coaches to make a bold selection decision.
Brown not ready yet..no 2nd or 3rd efforts.
Aish is underweight and has no explosiveness over 10metres.

Thought Fas, Pendles, Howe, DeGoey, Greenwood, WHE were our best.

Buckley claimed that he selected the team based on the opposition, but they had 4 pacy small forwards, and we didn't have not one match-up player for them.

Smartest thing to do from now on is play all the kids and get a high draft pick next year.

It's full tank mode now. We need to get as high a draft pick as possible. We need Reid from Sydney. We need SMART, front & centre players.

We're going to finish 14th, whatever we do.

That -6.9% must have been his pox grubber in the first quarter across half back that got them rolling on the scoreboard.

Love to see Langdon's. Must look like Mitch Marsh's batting average...

Langdon 79.2%

We should trade our high draft pick to Hawthorn for their coach.

Just for a change there are a number of Nicks Posters claiming the sky is falling down <snip>. In truth the loss was much less and really a result of a disfunctional forward line today, we need changes at selection. I table. Crocker and Brown don't belong at the level yet, time for a spell in the resumes. Time for another look at Cox and Mayne.

Because it's all about the 'process' and 'structure', blah blah blah!

Buckley honestly thinks Crocker and Blair, etc. can produce the same output as an Elliott based purely on effort. He hates flair and natural talent. He'd probably overlook Robbie Gray.

Any analysis of why we lost should be confined to the first half where we had the same number of forward entries as Port, yet kicked half their score. The game was over half way through the third quarter when all the sting was out of the game.

I think the reason we lost can be traced back to the last quarter of the GWS game when Moore starred in the ruck in the last quarter and our brains trust decided that it would be a good idea to play Moore as back up ruckman for the rest of the year. Our "small" forward line worked against a Hawthorn side in rebuild mode. It worked against a thin young Brisbane side. It almost worked against a Melbourne side that had its two big guns in Gawn and Garland out.

So today we have a bean pole young gun forward in Moore who has to cover when Grundy is off the ground, against Ryder and Trengrove in the ruck and the huge Westoff playing a defensive role in the back half and a huge Dixon playing in attack. I hope everybody watching our game noticed the run of goals kicked by Port in the third quarter, occurred when Grundy went off the ground and Moore was playing in the ruck.

Well guys. You wanted a small forward line and you got it, courtesy of the coach. But wait, it only gets better. We got the return game against Melbourne with Gawn back and games against big hardened bodies against Adelaide and West Coast to come.

It need not have been like like this. Moore kicked 3.0 today as the part time full forward. Imagine what he might have kicked in the full time role at FF. Anyway look forward to having a new senior coach in 2018. Derek Hine can accompany him out the door together with our forwards coach, Brendon Sanderson.

Is this going to be one of the seasons we don't turn up in the second half?

Just asking!

Just a slight case of clearance nutting, nothing to be concerned about, the leg should grow back in a couple of weeks

Did you even watch the game? They kick 93 and we kick 62 and you point the finger at defenders? When was the last time a grand total of 62 won an AFL game?
