^^^ Some of it is obviously sensible. Eg, in criminal law, you probably want to give people a heads up before you discuss certain particularly distressing rape cases and you want to be reasonably careful about where you let the discussion range. The concept of a codified system of trigger-warnings, though, is just unacceptable garbage. The real question, in my view, is what is wrong with the university's senior administration that they thought this was an OK thing to do.
On the other hand, I'm in favour of rigorously-enforced trigger-warnings being screened before and during (and perhaps instead of) Collingwood games for the foreseeable future. Of the "Collingwood supporters who remember watching Alan Didak and Travis Cloke at their peak might find the following two and a half hours of football distressing" variety. |

Some of their ideas may be terribly misguided, but you can't fault a lot of their intentions. Some of this 'trigger warning' stuff does my head in too, but I think we would do better to try to understand where they're coming from than to mock them. Same goes for Trump supporters and anyone else who comes to mind, of course. |
good intent isn't an acceptable cover for bad action.
So, In this case, I'll go happily with the mocking. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Man, if the Liberals did that people would be going nuts about how racist it was. That's either some extraordinarily cynical racist dog-whistling, or whoever's making ads for the ALP has no idea what they're doing. I'm going to take a wild guess that it's the first one. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Yes, no problem with the policy (in fact about time - how shocking that a Govt should seek to employ its own citizens rather than foreigners), but WTF with the all-white faces ? Indeed, if the Libs did that there'd be an uproar you'd hear from the Arctic Circle.... _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

So they used the directors of Neighbours, Home and Away and John Howard to direct it, like so what man. I did spot a woman who looks of Asian appearance in there too _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Are neighbours and home and away still on TV?
I thought I saw the written and authorised by the ACTU somewhere on the screen. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I like the fact that Shorten is now calling it an "oversight" when he was literally standing right there while it was being filmed. I almost wonder if they planned this controversy all along so that they could walk away from the ad but the right potential voters would still see it on the news. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

We could use them in a new reality TV show version of survivor.
Put a whole bunch of them, both sides, in Polar bear country in Alaska with food, tents and no weapons and see who gets eaten last. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
