Have they changed their culture or what?

Weideman has signed on to the end of 2019. We'll see what he provides in '17, the jury will be out, but they've got him wrapped up and the dream of seeing a Weideman at Collingwood again is over. We know he's already said he had no intentions of wanting to play here.

Petracca signed on last year until the end of 2018. He's stated he loves everything about the club and wants to play there for as long as they let him. He was a Collingwood nut growing up. I'd love to see him make the switch, but you feel that Melbourne have soaked him in red and blue.

Jesse Hogan signed on until the end of 2019. He was massively linked to return to Perth, but the Demons managed to hold on to their young star.

Not too long ago, these guys might have been able to be pinched away from the soulless Demons. But they've turned it all around and players actually want to stay there.

It's been ten years since they've played in finals. In fact since the turn of the millennium, they've only played in 5 finals series for 4 wins, with 2 of those coming in their Grand Final year, 2000.

They've had 7 bottom four finishes and 2 wooden spoons since 2007.

Last year, they finished 11th, their highest finish since 2006.

Their drafting, trading, player development and overall list management was nothing short of a disgrace in recent times.

But have they finally turned it all around?

I think they have the spine now to achieve some success now.

I know many others think differently around here, but I won't begrudge them of any future success because half of my family are Melbourne supporters and they've endured some massive hardships with the club, but stuck with them through thick and thin.

I'd rather see them do well as opposed to the likes of Carlton, Essendon, Richmond and Hawthorn for example.

The last quarter we won against them was indeed a first quarter, but it was last year's Queen's Birthday game...

They've won the last three in a row against as. Before that, they went almost 8 years without beating us.

The late loss in 2015 was somewhat of a shock. That was the last game I attended before moving to England.

Don't get me wrong, 10 wins, 3 losses and a draw from 14 games is a good record and you'd take it every time (and we won a flag in that time to their wooden spoons), but with the Dees expectation to push the top 8, I really want to get back in the W column.
