Welfare cuts bill killed off by One Nation

She urged the government to turn its attention to tax-dodging multinational corporations.

'The coalition needs to realise that before those with the least are asked to tighten their belts, those multinationals with the most need to start paying their way,' she said in a statement.

Earlier on Tuesday, welfare groups painted a bleak picture of the fallout if Australians are forced to absorb $5.6 billion in social security cuts

^^^ The Priority it appears is to amend 18C and the LNP are a joke for setting that as the priority.

It's getting exciting, now - the WA Electoral Commission has more or less finished the count for the Assembly and says it will most likely post final results for the Council today.

In the Assembly, there are now 3 major parties by vote - the ALP, the Libs and the Greens (in that order). No other party achieved 75,000 votes statewide. The result is that the ALP won 41 seats, the Libs 13 and the Nats 5.

Sadly, about 3 times as many people didn't turn up to vote at all as voted for PHONy.

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2017-03-24/pauline-hanson--one-nation-party-has-won-two-more-seats-in-wa/8385734?pfmredir=sm

Pauline Hanson's One Nation (PHON) party has won two more seats in Western Australia's Upper House.

The results for the South West and East Metropolitan regions were announced, with PHON taking a seat in each.

The Greens also won two positions.

One Nation and The Greens have three seats in the Legislative Council so far, after both parties chalked up victories earlier this week in the Mining and Pastoral region

The final counts in the remaining two Executive Council regions (both metropolitan) will be declared shortly. When that is done, PHONy will have 3 seats in total and the Greens will have 4 and we'll need the Mods to rename the thread "Greens on the Rise". Happily, the ALP and the Greens will have 18 seats in the Council, so PHONy will remain irrelevant for policy purposes.

^ Officially declared now. Final results are:

Labor 14
Liberal 9
Nationals 4
Greens 4
One Nation 3
Shooters and Fishers 1
Liberal Democrats 1

19 votes are needed for a majority, I believe (18 not counting the President, who acts as the speaker and tends to come from the governing party), so Labor will need the support of the Greens and one of the Shooters & Fishers, Liberal Democrats, Nationals or One Nation to pass legislation.

18 for a majority - the question is whether the ALP has to supply the Chair. Either way, PHONy is irrelevant.

Looks like (alleged)

Corruption, lies, distortions, control & extortion.

From Fairfax:

"....One Nation has been accused of buying a private plane with money donated by a Victorian businessman and using it to "ferry Pauline Hanson around" without disclosing the donation to authorities, possibly placing the party in breach of electoral laws"....

Australia Institute examines Pauline Hanson's One Nation's performance in WA

Although it was widely written off as an embarrassing failure, One Nation's campaign in the Western Australiaelection was a considerable victory in which the party positioned itself to seize long-term balance of power in the federal senate, according to a new analysis.
