These allegations were known when we appointed Gubby, so it was a very strange decision to forge ahead.

If he's found guilty then good riddance, I have no stomach for defending people who transgress the drug code, especially after watching the embarrassing contortions that Essendon supporters have gone through to justify supporting their drug cheats.

He should not have been appointed to the position until this matter has been dealt with, regardless of guilt or innocence.

The problem is not really about what did or did not happen, but whether Gubby told fibs about it, including the deletion of test messages. Hopefully he's been up front and honest about it all from the start. If not, then he's in deep shit.

Is he standing for president of the US?

Those text deletions are not a good look now matter what may or may not have transpired.

I just hope it's sorted one way or another as soon as possible.

But Club and Board Dodgy for Hiring Gubby even when we suppose to know what he did

I don't think it was dodgy, they would have known these were allegations and after 15 or however many months nothing had changed they would assume it's still allegations and nothing has been proven as yet.

They also I would assume believed it was worth the risk, if he's cleared nothing bad, but if he's suspended he might be fired. But until he's proven one way or the other I don't see this as being a dodgy thing to do.

Even if Gubby goes down for this it would seem that the club has potentially benefited already by his appointment. The club need a bit of a shake up and Gubby has set this in motion.

Have a little faith in the club and those who manage it.

Selected extracts from the pen of Caroline Wilson this evening.

Seems we have a leak on the Collingwood Board.

Eddie McGuire, Gary Pert looking shaky after drugs scandal

Caroline Wilson, October 25 2016 - 5:42PM

As the fall-out continues from Collingwood's strange decision to appoint Graeme Allan on a long-term deal as the club's football boss, the biggest question still surrounds why Eddie McGuire and Gary Pert pushed through the appointment despite realising Allan was in serious trouble.

Now the pressure is mounting upon both men. McGuire's leadership after an extraordinarily successful presidency is looking truly shaky for the first time. There are genuine signs that those directors who have rarely challenged him - despite some horrendous gaffes in the past - are starting to do so and the Allan move has weakened his standing.

Pert, who has insisted the appointment that disenfranchised so many staff at the club was his call and not a McGuire captain's pick, has also come under scrutiny from some board members who have pointed to among other things the disappointing 2016 financial result.

The directors are not aligned in their views on Nathan Buckley, have questioned the heavy cost of establishing the netball and women's football teams and must surely be mystified by the Allan appointment given staffers had been tipped off that he faced a significant sanction over the Lachie Whitfield affair

and

Already disappointed at losing Neil Balme, who was liked and respected and yet treated by Pert and McGuire with less respect, the recruiters at Collingwood were shocked at the move to sign Docker Chris Mayne to a four-year deal worth $2 million $500,000 a year.

Allan conducted that deal with Mayne's manager, Colin Young, without the full knowledge of his football colleagues and certainly not list management boss Derek Hine, who had offered Mayne a three-year deal worth $380,000 a year

and

Whether the Buckley appointment proves ultimately successful or not, McGuire and Pert own that decision and should not be proud of the fact their favourite son has now worked under four football bosses in little more than three years and looks headed to serve even temporarily under a fifth before the start of next season.

That's the end of whoever leaked Hine's proposed Mayne deal.

The scenario is ---- Off season, draft over, Caro bored, nothing happening, no footy scandals, snaps fingers, got it, drum up some alleged allegations, jilted shelia, chance to smear the PIes again, sink the boot into eddie yet again, irrisitable, screw the giants, they don't sell like the PIes, puts pen too paper, draft article, hits sportspage, media shark fest, another drugs PIes issue, Caro relevant again, all is well in Caro World. sigh.

Caro is in Fine Form. Seems everyday she has a Anti-Collingwood or Anti-Eddie Article to put out

It's no surprise Caro has the pitchforks out, she's wanted Eddie gone for a loooong time, as most Collingwood haters do. The thing is, this time she has a kernal of truth on her side. I'm a big supporter of Ed, but it was crazy to appoint Gubby under these circumstances.

It's natural for all the anti-pies to gather around this issue, they can stand in the open waving their 'sack Ed' flags without fear of being called out because the issue has significant weight and the appointment really didn't make sense.

Let's face it, if Gubby gets banned then this is a tremendous screw up. That said, if the board think they can get rid of Eddie and survive, well, good luck.

You can think what you like about her, but if half of that is true, we are in deep shit.

Appointing gubby with this over his head is plain dumb. Said so as soon as I hird. Guilty or not, it's a bad look. At least wait til it's all over. I'd like to know the truth of the Mayne contract too. Big gap in those figures. As for the ladies footy/netball teams, well I'd rather we concentrated on the main game.

If only.

Scary thing is- she is correct in almost everything she has written and from my understanding, likely has some more ammunition up her sleeve.

Redlight is bang on.

This won't end well-short term- yet longer term- this could be the almighty shake up the club needs at all levels

Then why do you believe this crap and turn on the club and it servants by referring to them as being dodgy. I will put money on it that little to nothing will come out of these allegations and alleged events.

Wow- some people swallow up media driven agendas hook line and president.

The wider football community had little problem with other clubs drafting in suspected peptide bumbers:

Jake Carlisle (St Kilda)
Stewart Crameri (Western Bulldogs)
Jake Melksham (Melbourne)
Angus Monfries (Port Adelaide)
Patrick Ryder (Port Adelaide)

Should we sack their presidents and CEO's for drafting in players even though they knew they could be facing suspensions at the time?

Somehow this has gone from a GWS problem to a Sack the Collingwood CEO and president- WTF??

Give me a break. Gubby wears the penalty (if there is to be one) and Eddie, Pert and Carro carry on with business as usual - two trying to run a club and the other one trying to destroy it.

Nothing to see here.
