Post subject: The characters of VFL days gone byReply with quote

Whilst traveling up top end of Queensland spent some time chatting with Phillip.Byrne the twin of
Carlton and Collingwood player Ray.

I asked him of the time he ran onto the ground and prior to first bounce he turned to his opponent and
from his sock pulled money out saying "Here's that money I owe you"

Phil then related the day Ray lined up on Bartlett the
day he played 400th and this time produced from his
sock a comb which he handed to Kev.

Are there any wags in todays game

I recall that the funny thing about the comb was that it had no teeth on it (if that is what you actually call the working part of the comb).

I remember another Ray Byrne story that was reported not long after he crossed to the club. He caught the train to training and got off at Collingwood station then blasted the station master because the ground wasn't there and demanded to know why Collingwood wasn't at Collingwood station.

Wags in today's game? On field I can't think of any. It wouldn't be PC as someone would be upset. If there were any they would not be at the Pies. Bland is in.
