I don't give a rats arse what happened behind closed doors. Whether we plugged em all into the matrix and downloaded a new game plan that they could learn and apply instantly, whether the players got read the riot act, whether they had a kumbaya session, I genuinely don't give a shit.

I don't need or want someone to blame or give credit to.

All I want if for them to keep performing like that, week in week out. Putting in that effort, showing that intensity and playing that hard running brand of football.

16th in the league for playing on with a mark/free kick before Saturday.
And what did we do on Saturday.... we played on at every opportunity and embraced fast footy.
It only takes one instruction from the coach ...play on at all costs but keep believing nothing changed except harder work...yeah, I believe in fairies.

Haha is it really that hard for the club to say "we've got a few injuries back, and we've tweaked the game plan, the coaches are coaching better, directing the players more at training and the players are also putting in more"?

It just reads like the whole club is about protecting Buckley's legacy and coaching career.

Conversely, it reads that a few posters on Nicks are hell bent on tearing it down without actually having any factual basis to do so.

i have not seen any discernible change to the way we play other than actually executing things better. there will be nuances that to the untrained eye will go undetected but much of what we did well on saturday we were doing in other games just poorly.

Is that a fact or an opinion?

Not many 15m kicks to the dead pocket.

^ and that was all contingent on blair winning the ground ball otherwise it was likely to have been pinged back into the d50. was somewhat fortuitous but fortune does favour the brave.

The thing we still need to improve on is stopping marks inside our defensive 50!

Brown back on Hawkins would have helped. Hawkins was having a bad day but still kicked four goals. I'm not sold on Frost at FB. The rest of the defensive six are starting to gel together and Maynard is maybe coming to believe that he belongs in the back six.

I guess Brown being available for selection might help that. I think Frosty did okay under the circumstances. Was beaten but hardly disgraced.

Howe's explanation:

The 4-5 Magpies are now back in the finals hunt after a dismal start to the season, and Howe revealed one of the reasons behind the club's recent successes had come down to a tweak in the training program.

"We've definitely made a stronger emphasis on doing a little bit less two days after a game now," Howe said.

"We just added a little bit more into our main training session earlier in the week and we're probably out on the track longer in those sessions.

"The intensity has gone through the roof, and it's no surprise that we're performing on game day now."
