I truly hope the kid comes good as you suggest, but in all honesty, young Crocker has already shown much more promise than Aish, a 3rd year player.

At Collingwood? Maybe, though I'd argue it; certainly not over the full career. Ideally Crocker wouldn't be playing right now and likely won't be shortly.

Crocker was good on the weekend against the Bears, invisible in mission impossible the week before ; but we will get a better measure of him this weekend coming. His pace and ability to find space was encouraging. I hope he comes on, but my money is Aish being a better player in the long run. Aish needs bulk, above anything else.

"14. James Aish
Statistics: 13 kicks, 7 marks, 9 handballs, 22 disposals, 4 clearances, 5 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 13 tackles
Notes: Many more performances like this one and James Aish won’t be in Collingwood’s VFL side much longer. The wingman/midfielder was dominant throughout the game, showing his tackling prowess in the first half because exploding in his offensive game in the latter stages of the game."

Apart from the link P4S posted, he got his own little write up.

Selected part quoted:

Quote:
“It’s a challenge for him (to be omitted) but the only way to handle it is to perform,” VFL coach Dale Tapping told Collingwood Media post game.

“He ticked that box.”

The South Australian had 22 disposals, four clearances and an impressive 13 tackles.

He piled pressure onto the Geelong midfielders with intense tackling in the first half, before letting his offensive game take over after half time.

“He was an attacking machine on the day,” teammate Brent Macaffer told ‘From Lulie Street’.

“When it was his turn to go, he went. Not only at ground level with his tackling and his attack on the ball, but his marking ability in the air.

“A couple of times he went back with the flight of the ball and took some really impressive marks.”

I think he'll end up being really good for us, but prefer to see him string a few good VFL games together before getting another game in the seniors.
Could build both confidence and resilience if he knocked the door down before coming back in.

Well said King Monkey. My thoughts exactly.

I just think we need to be patient and let him adapt to a new club and environment. In time, I think he'll be an excellent player for us.

I didn't mention him because I wasn't asked about him, Muggy. Smile

For the record, I thought he was okay. 24 disposals, playing as much inside as out, against the best midfield in the VFL. Only the 3 tackles, but. Not sure it's enough to break back into a team that has started winning again, but I like how he has responded to being dropped.

Give him time, limited preseason, new club etc.....

No need to worry at this stage, he has shown signs but if he hasn't established himeself by the end of next season then start worrying. I still believe he'll be a beauty.

Yep, there's no hurry to get him back into the ones. Let him dominate the VFL for a few weeks.

Agree - His head did not go down after being Dropped. Keep working and 2 20+ Touches games is Encouraging
