It is, of course, predicated entirely on a false premise -"radical Islamic terrorism" seems to be an end-of- lifestyle choice of some disaffected Europeans. I suppose we could quarantine Europe - do you think that's what he meant? |

Possibly, not a bad idea in one way
I interpreted it more as equating the Elbonians with middle eastern Muslims, but your idea has merit. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Found some good articles about this issue and the ongoing Syrian Civil War in the last few days.
1). The first article published in the BBC relates to leaders within the Alawite sect wanting to distance themselves from Bashar Al-Assad which is what some consider to be an unusual development especially in light of Assad's recent victories, most notably in Palmyra last week.
Full article is in the link below:
Quote: | Syrian Alawites distance themselves from Assad
In a deeply unusual move, leaders of President Bashar al-Assad's Alawite sect in Syria have released a document, obtained by the BBC, that distances themselves from his regime and outlines what kind of future they wish for the country after five years of civil war.
The community and religious leaders say they hope to "shine a light" on the Alawites after a long period of secrecy, at what they call "an important moment" in their history.
In the eight-page document, termed a "declaration of identity reform", the Alawites say they represent a third model "of and within Islam".
Those behind the text say Alawites are not members of a branch of Shia Islam - as they have been described in the past by Shia clerics - and that they are committed to "the fight against sectarian strife".
They also make clear that they adhere to "the values of equality, liberty and citizenship", and call for secularism to be the future of Syria, and a system of governance in which Islam, Christianity and all other religions are equal.
And despite Alawites having dominated Syria's government and security services under Mr Assad and his late father Hafez for more than four decades, they stress that the legitimacy of his regime "can only be considered according to the criteria of democracy and fundamental rights". |

2). A great article regarding counter-extremism and how the Islamist narrative must be confronted and challenged. This article is by counter-extremist think-tank group called Qullium who are based in London.

3). Iraqi forces have entered the town of Hīt which is approximately 60km West of Ramadi.
Quote: | Iraqi forces enter ISIS-held Hit, thousands flee fighting
HIT, Iraq — Iraqi forces have entered the town of Hit, a week after launching an operation to retake the western town from Islamic State group fighters, commanders at the scene said Monday.
Iraq's elite counterterrorism forces, who are leading the offensive, said they are clearing ISIS fighters from Hit's northern neighborhoods as they push in toward the town center.
Iraqi and coalition officials say Hit — which lies along the Euphrates river valley in Iraq's vast Anbar province — is strategically important as it sits along an ISIS supply line that links the extremist militants in Iraq to those in Syria. |

Oh my, 250,000 - 280,000 displaced people. Only 20,000-50,000 left in the city. That is mind boggling.
Good news in the article though, and that map is really informative, and easy to understand. Thanks Jezza. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

The Iraqi government declares Fallujah "liberated" from ISIS. Next aim is to regain the city of Mosul.

Hmmm
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said findings point to Islamic State responsibility for the suicide bomb attack on Istanbul’s main international airport.
Up to 36 people are now believed to have died and many more wounded
