Well it's been an interesting week since that half marathon PB.

Pulled up very sore, especially in the Achilles, then got hit with a bit of a bug that had me in cold sweats and aching all over for around 36 hours.

Thursday, still not feeling 100%, I decided I just needed to roll the legs over so went for a ride on the treadly. Only did about 10k and felt very average after that.
Woke up Friday and felt ok, put the shoes on and set off on a short run. The left Achilles didn't feel right from the moment I set off. Sort of came good as it warmed up but after 8k it was worse than ever.
Limped around yesterday..... shit, only 5 weeks to the marathon and I need to get in a couple more 30+k runs in the next few weeks!

Just went for a 30k ride on the bike, this will be my method of maintaining my fitness until I can comfortably run again. Hopefully not too long.
I have a 30k run planned for Tuesday morning with the Captain but, at this stage, I don't think I'll be up for it.

Might have over done it slightly with the 2 half Marathons in 3 weeks... bugger!

20k on the bike today.

What I have is very common apparently, Achilles tendonitis. They say ; rest, anti-inflammatory tabs and stretching/strength work. 4-6 weeks rest.... that 'aint gunna happen!

Swelling has gone down considerably so I'm hoping to run by late this week.

Something I learnt... the Achilles is the strongest tendon in the body.

This really sucks Sad

Just about to set off on a long bike ride. I fuckimg hate bike riding, 30 odd k and I've had enough. Gotta try and push out 50k this morning. My arse gets sore from the seat Shocked

Swelling in the Achilles has almost gone and isn't sore at all when I squeeze it. read in a running magazine that as soon as you can do calf raises without pain you can resume running.

Tomorrow I plan to test it out with a slow 10k.

After months and months of hard work its come down to getting everything spot on over the next 4 and a bit weeks, I'm only 1 long run behind where I'd like to be so at this stage, still aiming to beat the 4hr mark.

Get an anatomically correct seat! Worth every cent!
(The male one has a gap for your doodle!)
The female has support either side of our, um gap, that stops the tender bits getting any pressure! It's awesome! No pain, lots of gain!

I have one TP. It looks like a lounge chair!
Still doesn't cut the mustard. The fact that you'd get more meat off a lamb loin chop than one of my arse cheeks probably doesn't help Smile

Didn't quite get the 50, did 42k in just under 2 hours. Incredible to think that the best actually run 42k in the time it took me to do it on a bike.
