Sth. Oz beat WA by 1 wicket in an absolute thriller, in the 9th. round of Sheffield, at the WACA.

In WA's first innings (all out 311. Cartwright 139, Worrall 5/91), Nick Benton dislocated his shoulder and was unable to bat when SA answered with 230 (Hogan 4/4Cool

WA then scored 192 (Voges 89, Worrall 3/4Cool, leaving SA needing 274 to win.

At stumps on day 3, SA was not looking good, at 5/135 and only Travis Head left, on 61*, of the top 6.

Head played a wonderful knock. He was out for 134 from 141 balls. He fell with 24 still needed. When Sayers and Worrall were out cheaply, SA still needed 8 to win. WA thought they were home but out came the injured Benton.

SA's #8 batsman, Joe Mennie, was playing a courageous innings (49* from 40 balls) but was at the other end when Benton faced Paris, who already had 5 wickets.

With 3 needed for the win, Benton snicked a ball into the slips, but along the ground. Second and third slips dived but missed the ball. It went to the third man boundary and SA was home.

To add insult to injury, that boundary knocked WA out of the finals race and left SA in contention.

Want more ? When these two met, earlier in the season - same result. SA won by 1 wicket.

Those 3 quicks are in the top 4 on the bowling aggregate list.

Mennie has 44 wickets, Paris 35 and Worrall 32.

Jackson Bird's 10 wicket haul against NSW took him to 3rd., with 35 scalps.
