The most, and indeed possibly the only, astute comment in this thread is quoted below.

Yep. No argument. Attention seeking twats.

However, sometimes from the dungheap, a rose grows.

The Bendigo Mosque is to go ahead.

Quote:
THE ugly violence at an anti-Islam rally in Melton this weekend mimics exactly what happened three months ago in Bendigo.

Bendigos name became a byword for extremism as the nation watched protesters break through police barriers, throw punches and hurl missiles during an anti-mosque rally organised by the United Patriots Front in August.

So the city decided to take a stand, rescuing its image, restoring harmony and pushing ahead with plans for a $3 million mosque.

Campaigners hope Bendigo can become a model for other towns that want to beat the racism far-right activists are spreading through Australia.

Bendigo was targeted by extremists, rallies were held and we received a lot of negative press, campaign leader Margot Spalding said.

The reputation of Bendigo was trashed nationally. Its reputation became about violent rallies. If you were thinking of coming here to live or work, you certainly wouldnt.
To her delight, the businesswoman found other prominent figures in the education, business and the wider community shared her desire.

We were all thinking the same. People had been very quiet until then, thinking the nonsense would go away. I thought it was time to stand up.

I can see why these people are protesting and I sympathise as the media hysteria with their sensationalist headlines and the shock jocks have made this minority into what it is. But the name? Reclaim Australia? Reclaim from what?

Now you have the Government/Big Business come out today and state that the refugees will be given priority for jobs over Australians and no doubt public housing. More ammunition for this mob. The more that transpires from our fear mongering media who seek nothing but a headline, the more the idiots will flock together and sooner rather than later someone is going to be killed. It's our version of the KKK.

Chuck those far left froot loops into the bargain and it's a tinder box.

Separate the two groups by a day and neither get any publicity.
