The PM's hung the Border Farce out to dry and has denied Dutton and himself had any knowledge of the action. I expect more to follow from this as those being hung out to dry won't like that.

Gosh, Bruno is quiet isn't he. Sorry, not Bruno, the other guy, the Bruno clone. Senior moment there. Sorry. Oh yes, CP. Not a peep out of him. I wonder why.

I wonder who supports crap like this? When Tim Wilson one of Abbott's hand picked stooges raises questions about this you really wonder what we have as a Government.

That's because Wilson is a libertarian who actually believes in preserving civil liberties!

It shouldn't surprise anyone that he has concerns about this.

Since when? Wilson certainly doesn't believe in civil liberties for black people or muslims, and he is on the record saying just that. And not just once.

What such as repealing section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act?

Any links that back up your statement?

Any number. These are the first three I saw. Plenty more if required.

Repealing 18C is a widely held libertarian position.

Not just right-libertarians, either. I support a partial repeal of 18C (specifically, removing the words 'offend' and 'insult', and also perhaps the bit relating to national origin). Unfortunately, the Liberals made a complete hash of it – as they do with everything – by going completely overboard and giving the thumbs up to pretty much every form of bigotry and intimidation imaginable. No wonder the policy ended up in the wastepaper basket, and a good thing it did, too.

I'm not sure what Wilson's position was on the repeal bill, but I hope he was sensible enough to oppose it.

I agree David, removing the words 'offend' and 'insult' would be the first cause of action in repealing section 18C if it ever came to fruition.

In terms of further action, I think some discussion and debate would be sensible and reasonable.

No, he supported it like the good little IPA weenie he is. Hell, it was probably his idea, back when he was an IPA bigwig.

His IPA association got him the job. Wilson is there to follow IPA agendas.

An interesting and irrelevant point I thought I'd bring up after people were comparing Abbott to Hitler is that the early ALP was very close in policies and platforms to the Pre-Hitler NSDAP. Both held racist policies protecting the white worker, both called for limited workers control etc. The ALP was/maybe is now again, a nationalist workers party. Just sayin'....

And wouldn't Tones' idol Fascist lovin' Bob Santamaria of the National Civic Council (which Tones was/is a member of) be loving Border Farce if he was still alive? It would have made him nostalgic for the days of El Caudillo for sure! Laughing

And how's that hard hitting approach to the Border Farce episode from that that squib Shorten?... he said border security was above politics and refused to say anything that could be construed as oppositional. Shorten and the ALP are a disgrace. Progressives who vote Labor these days are either lazy or gullible or both. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, I think his initial reaction was to ask why the operation had been publicly announced. Rolling Eyes

how the world has changed.

Quote:
Holding up placards and chanting “border force off our streets” and “**** off border force,” more than 200 protesters walked from the steps of the station where they had gathered and spilled out to the intersection in front, banking up trams and causing chaos amongst the traffic.

though, i sometimes have to check whether the guardian is a satirical publication like the onion.
