I don't like the notion of playing Reid as a genuine key defender, Jack. Every time we do that, he comes up against a monster and tries too hard and .....
..... 12 months later he is right to resume in the reserves. Again. Reid is too valuable and too fragile to stand the giants. That's what we have Brown and Frost for.

I just think he's a great player.. forward, back, I'm not fussed. Wherever he's needed.

Got crunched a few times tonight playing as a +1 so there's no way to protect him from that. You could also make the argument that playing a +1 exposes him to getting crunched as he's expected to take the space of leading forwards. |

Yep, in the starting 18 where I prefer to see him, not fussed beyond that. |

We've missed his kicking off half back so bad.
You can understand what we've been trying to do, nursing him through to the end of the season up forward, but next year, if he's fit, come round 1 he plays as our CHB. |

| Obviously he'll play some games forward and back, but certainly he makes our structure look so much better playing down back, taking saving marks and delivering beautiful long accurate kicks. He and Maynard are our only 2 really good kickers in defence. With Moore coming on so quickly, we've got the luxury of playing Reid predominantly in defence. With Brown and Langdon as the other talls, it might be hard next year to squeeze Frost in to our best 22, though it will be horses for courses I guess. |

Reid "looks better" as a defender for the same reason that literally everybody "looks better" as a defender. Because it's roughly a million times easier to play in defence than in the forward line.
I think Reid should stay in defence for half a season or so, hopefully in the old Maxwell role, and then, when he's got the pace of the game right, he should go forward. Average KPF's are more valuable than really good KPD's.

Reid can play good footy at both ends, but he is a great defender who can be thrown forward for brief periods to snag a goal, like Harry Taylor but his best footy is as a key defender where his reach, long kicks and mobility can be used to intercept and start attacking plays. Must play in defense next year and rotate Cloke/Moore & White (choose the best 2 in-form every week) as our key forward targets, hopefully competition between those three will drive all of them to improve. Cloke must not be an auto start anymore, he must be driven to improve his game as well.

189 I think but still a good height. But if your relying on him playing as the 2nd KPD get used to more of the Vardy type opposition marks 25-30m out DIF. He's just not big enough to mind these types. Frost has run out of steam as the season has progressed but I'd expect he and Brown to mind the KPD posts in 2016. |

Absolutely. I see Brown and Reid as our 2 KPDs with Langdon able to pitch in if we come up against 3 tall forwards. As you say, Frost will probably return there next season allowing Reid and/or Langdon to play the intercept role. |
