Can I get your thoughts on this, P4S?

I don't really have an opinion. The article seems to me to be about fashion statements, rather than music.

The point about Tornado of Souls is the sound. The sound, in its turn, depends upon extraordinary technical mastery of the guitar. Most guitarists simply don't have the technique required to make the sound and, no matter how hard they practice, they'll never get there. It's a bit like playing Ravel's Gaspard - the world is full of people who can produce reasonably persuasive arguments about why the self-conscious focus on virtuoso technique as a base element of the composition is inapt and a new compositional aesthetic is required - but those arguments are almost always advanced by people who can't actually play it.

Awesome news! Always liked Megadeath from my early teenage years.

Here's a couple of primers for anyone who wants to understand the music in the way I do (that is, by listening to it). Enjoy:

Tonight, at Festival Hall. Be there or be sane.

Here's some classic Dave Mustaine interaction with fans to warm up:

My Brother went, he said it was good.........The tour shirt he got was excellent too. I had the chance to go but declined.......on reflection, I should have gone.

Rust in Peace is without-a-doubt their best album in my opinion, it is brilliant. It'd be in my top ten of all time that's for sure. Like you P4S, Tornado of Souls is my favourite from the album, and my favourite Megadeth song overall.

I just wish Megadeth still had Marty. Being a guitarist myself (a so-so guitarist at best), I've always thought he's one of the best I've ever heard. Without him, Rust in Peace wouldn't be what it is.

Go the Pies!

Glad your brother enjoyed it. The tour shirts were good.

We all wish Megadeth still had Marty - but he's been gone a long time and won't be coming back. Kiko Loureiro, however, at least has the technical chops to sit in Marty's seat:
