Post subject: The booing of the screen | |
|
I was at the game yesterday and after Garlett kicked a goal, they showed on the screen a replay and, in front of the Collingwood cheer squad, he did his dance and then I think it showed him throwing an imaginary spear at the cheer squad.
Can someone who was there verify what actually happened, as I only glanced at the screen.
What was interesting then was the response. I did not hear any booing when he kicked the goal but after the replay on the screen, there was boos ringing out.
AFL is a passionate game and all supporters are full of passion, so how do you respond in such circumstances where you are deliberately provoked?
Love to hear from anyone as to what happened. |

I thought it was great. I really enjoyed it. I love it when ex-Blooz players get a goal against the 'Pies. Nothing better. |

We could try calling him an ape.
Oh no wait, that kind of behaviour is what started all this! |

Absolutely nothing in it, there was no spear throwing. It was more a celebration dance. Don't understand why they booed, possibly they thought he was rubbing our nose in it. Well they did and deservedly so. _________________ "Still waiting for your call Caroline ... not a quote in sight. Don't ever presume to speak on Collingwood's behalf," |

Thanks Bucks2014. Good for clarifying it as I only glanced at the screen. Not sure why the booing then. No problems with a celebration dance. I wrongly assumed there was more to it due to the booing. |

I actually liked it - other than the fact that it was celebrating a goal kicked against us.
It was obviously a movement with indigenous origins, but it was a celebratory one, with no aggression. Couldn't help but wonder how events of the past week could have been different, if that had been the dance used during indigenous round. |

Made me laugh too. Bit of theatre / pantomime really. Of course I was still hoping we'd get up by that time. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Yep, when since 1964 has a Melbourne player ever been justified celebrating a goal like that? |

Looked like a kid running around playing aeroplanes to me.
Doesn't he have the worst tattoo layout, think Mr Squiggle must be his artist. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

I was booing the umpires.... Then someone called me a racist so i stopped.
I also stopped clapping, swearing, eating a pie and any movement whatsoever that could be viewed as racist - particularly the pie eating. _________________ Beware the swooping Magpie. |

I was at home in Tasmania
And I might have screamed at him for being an ex Carlton so and so
I obviously have reflected and consulted with Peter Fitzsimmons
I am obviously a racist
I have self reported to the AFL

Same here, I booed Jack Watts so I must be racist.
But I got a laugh out of a few when I posed the question on who was the worst No. 1 draft pick between John Fraser, Watts and Gibbs. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |
