Always thought he was a quality bowler but injuries hampered him in the last few years.

Sad news indeed. He'll be missed. Played a large part in the ashes & against India last year. Sorry to see him go.

His retirement was a loss but I'm not sure he had another double-century in him to make the difference at Trent Bridge.

Well it is often left to our bowlers to make the runs that the batsmen can't, in these tours.
Point being, he doesn't slaughter the new ball; which Johnston and Hazlewood excelled at in England's last three innings .
