Quote: | COLLINGWOOD has reaffirmed its faith in injury-plagued utility Brent Macaffer, re-signing the unrestricted free agent to the end of 2016.
Macaffer was due to come out of contract at the end of this season butAFL.com.au understands he has re-signed with the Magpies for one more season. |
Great to Club to Stick with him but I am finding it hard to find how he come back into the best 22 in the Future

Can possibly regain his role he had as a defensive, lead up marking forward. His first quarter in the 2010 GF replay was awesome.
Hard to crack in though. |

Good to see the club support him. Not sure he'll be able to regain a spot in the seniors but let's see how he goes. |

Good news.
Doubt there's still a spot for him in the seniors, but hope he can come back and play some good footy. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

It's good for the spirit around the club to show some loyalty to a player who has always given his all for the club. I doubt he'll get a senior game again, but I'm happy to have him retained for another year, at least to give him a chance to prove me and others wrong. |

Have to be a chance later in the season you'd reckon, be a handy to the VFL team if he could find some form running into finals. |

Happy to keep Caff on for another year but unless he can break into the side in the next 12 months I think it will be over for him after that.
Does the club still want him as a shutdown tagger or are they considering the possibility of playing him up forward again like they did in 2010 as a way to re-invent his role in the team? _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

He's one of the best taggers in the game and stihl manages to rack up some some decent touches.
When he's fit he'll make it back into the seniors. |

I'm gonna make a bold prediction; I reckon Caff will be a Premiership coach sometime in the next 25 years.
Senior games or not, he will play a critical role in the development of our young squad, he gets it _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

Looking less likely.
If he does it will only be at VFL level. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Honestly guys, I just can't see the point in this...
Yes, a fine gesture by the club to retain a loyal servant going through his 2nd knee reco, but my concern is that we have to delist 4-5 players at seasons end, and the deadwood is already gone.
Can only presume Clinton Young, Keeffe and Thomas are effectively cactus. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |
