Yeah, doesn't look good.
Still, the silver lining is that, the more they prevaricate, the more likely it becomes that this will be an election issue. This is why Labor need to dump the conscience vote. "A vote for Labor is a vote for same-sex marriage". Make the election a referendum on it, with "it's time" style advertising to boot, and bye bye Abbott. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Well they definitely need a circuit breaker because they're getting killed on the stop the boats and ISIS stuff. Given that intolerance has served the Libs so well to date it’d be ironic if it cost them the next election. |

Looks like that slope is as slippery as the critics thought it was. |
Eric Abetz raised this the other day and DiNutali from the Greens avoided the issue and played the man accusing Abetz of beng a dinosaur.
The intolerance and bigotry from the left to anyone who disagrees with them is breathtaking. Can anyone seriously trust them to have an honest debate on the issue.
The attack on freedom of religion is also happening overseas, where people who are morally oppossed to redfefining the definition of marriage are being threatened.
Polygamy is a logical extension. If you support redefining the meaning of marriage why do you discriminate against those who want to marry more than one partner? |

Think you may find that it is very naive to believe that the issue is as important to poeple's voting intentions as some may think.
By the way isn't it somewhat hypocritical for Labor to dump the conscious vote and then criticise the Liberals for not doing so? |

An honest debate on the issue. Don't make me laugh. The debate finished about five years ago when traditionalists realised they had no argument. Now they just say things like "there are more important things to talk about right now" and "we need more time for community debate".
But since you mention it, let's revisit this hoary old argument: polygamy.
Remind me: what issue are we specifically debating right now? What law is being mooted? That's right, the freedom of two people of either gender to marry. Not the right of more than two people to marry. If polyamorous people want a piece of that pie, they can exercise their democratic right and lobby for it, and if enough people support them, they'll win.
Is it likely to happen? No, because the idea of two people of the same sex marrying is not a radical departure from the status quo. Most people these days recognise such relationships as normal and analogous to straight relationships. Can the same be said for polygamous relationships? No.
That may change in the future if the generally understood definition of marriage changes again, as it has already many times over the last few centuries. If polygamous marriage becomes acceptable again (as it has been for substantial periods of recorded human history), then it may end up being supported by the majority of the population and may become legal. What's the problem? What are you afraid of, exactly? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace

Haha, good on them. Some people may hate this kind of stuff, but I love the fact that Facebook are putting their immense collection of data to interesting ends. Plus, it allows me to feel vindicated for being such a cynic. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

It's a little known fact that Eve developed gender dysphoria in her early childhood, by her early teens had started hormone theory and come her 19th birthday had gender reassignment surgery.
Eve is now Steve and wants to marry. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
