Rather than put this in the ISIS thread, it probably deserves it's own.

Quote:
Muslim asylum seekers throw Christian passengers overboard in Mediterranean, killing 12

Quote:
Italian police have arrested a group of asylum seekers after witnesses said they threw 12 passengers overboard following a row about religion on a boat headed to Europe.

According to survivors, the fight broke out after a group of Nigerian and Ghanaian passengers declared they were Christian.

A group of Muslim passengers allegedly attacked the Christians, which resulted in 12 Nigerian and Ghanaian passengers drowning in the Mediterranean, police said.

These are Muslim people, not (apparently) extremists who happen to be Muslim.

I'm not buying into the Islam is evil argument, but of all the major religions it has to have form as being the least tolerant. That doesn't mean that any defined percentage of it's followers are automatically intolerant but this shit doesn't help the cause of those who claim Muslims are oppressed.

Sectarian conflicts are awful all over the world. Ever heard of the Balkans? This is just more of the same.

ISIS are trying to wipe our Christianity in the Middle East.

Really? The balkans conflict is comparable to douche nozzles piffing people overboard who they got on a boat with happily to seek refugee status because they had issues with their religion?

OK, all good. so what's the next trick? Burn some Jews? shoot some Gypsies? Stone some adulterers?

I think the point I'm trying to make is that this isn't a particularly 'Muslim' phenomenon (nor a Christian one for that matter). This sort of stuff happens everywhere around the world where conflicting religions/ethnicities exist in close quarters. The Balkans is just one example.

Who said it was a particularly muslim phenomenon? It's an example of Muslims killing christians because they're christians.

The recent university shootings were examples of muslims killing christians because they're christians.

Those instances aren't necessarily geographically linked, guess what the link is?

Give up?

Muslims killing christians because they're christians.

You can selectively group unrelated events together as much as you like, but what's the point? Why focus on this and not, say, Muslims killing Hindus because they're Hindus (and vice versa), or Catholics killing Protestants because they're Protestants, or Buddhists killing Muslims because they're Muslims? It just feels like another chapter in the terribly boring "Islam is bad" chronicles, and just gives further ammunition to the F Off We're Full crowd who are thirsty for any example of a Muslim person doing something terrible anywhere.

Well in this case Italy has every right to say F off. And hopefully they will. Particularly after the Pope gave an Easter speech about Muslim persecution of Christians within the Muslim communities the Italians will be in no mood to forgive.
The Nigerians are bad news. The largest Muslim nation in the world has had nothing but trouble with them as they have formed gangs in Jakarta involved with extortion and people trafficking. They are not particularly well liked in Thailand either as they are involved in passport scams, forgery and drug smuggling. Unfortunately that whole area in Africa seems to have gone to shit.

You'll always get a higher rate of criminality in impoverished demographics. But that doesn't mean that Nigerians deserve such sweeping generalisations. You get immigrant gangs everywhere, but most people are enlightened enough to recognise that it doesn't make that entire immigrant community "bad news".

Being of Italian decent I can tell you that my relatives OS can't stand the Muslims. All they do is cause trouble once they are in the country. The difference is the Italians aren't scared to tell these people what they think of them. They are not as PC as we are here.
