No, Dave. It is so people buy movies and DVDs legally and pay GST. |
So we just take Getting Ripped Off Cold Blind like Good Little Boys and Girls.
Then just keep paying more with the GST goes up _________________ I am Da Man |

Except that hiking the prices now, at the very moment in time that there's a brief opportunity to push more people into legal downloading (arrival of Netflix + crackdown on torrenters without VPNs) is going to have the direct opposite effect. Everybody knows that inflated prices and availability delays are the two greatest factors (well, beside the normal human desire to want stuff for free) driving piracy here. The government is just about to increase one of those motivating factors.
As I've said, though, that doesn't necessarily make it bad policy. A GST on imported goods is fair enough; the question is whether distribution companies can see the writing on the wall and stop ripping Australians off in the first place. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Pirating is never going to cease, they keep fining, suing etc people and they still do it. I honestly think there's more important issues in the world than whether or not someone is illegally downloading. Perhaps ISPs and Hollywood can work together and come up with a fair exchange of some cash for those who wish to download.
It costs people a lot of bandwidth to download, perhaps ISPs can come with a downloaders package so that the extra cash goes to those who are affected by illegally downloading.
It may not help much, but it's an idea at least.. _________________ Ðavâgé

What you Hear they think Piracy is the Worst thing that is Happening in the World. They need to get there Values Right.
I agree that the Hollywood and Co can make a better effort of making Piracy less Attractable by like making Word Wide Releases of Stuff so other Countries have to wait. Streaming is a Good Way of Doing it as you can watch what you want-When you want. That what people want and at $10 a month is price is not as bad.
Giving the Extra Money to Copyright Holders from Bigger Data Plans be a Good Idea but I just think the Hollywood just want Control over there Copyright Materiel _________________ I am Da Man |

What we have is a challenge. They are saying we will catch you and because of our culture which grew from convicts, we are saying no you can't.
I love a challenge. |

WTF? Time to start drug testing journos. Netflix and the other streaming TV has really bought SWA content that people want to watch. When they stop piss farting around and get serious, THEN people will join in.
But thanks for the queue, I didn't know they'd made a TV series on Daredevil, I might have to get that. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Until I receive my first warning letter then I wont be bothering paying for something I don't yet need.
Being with a local provider with it's own network of relay towers I'm hoping I might slip under the radar anyway with my wireless connection.
Not 100% sure my IP address doesn't change from time to time as well. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Do you mean you work at a local provider with it's own network of relay towers he or she'm hoping he or she might slip under the radar with his or her wireless connection? |
