Ahmed selected in Ashes Test squad.

Leg spinner, Fawad Ahmed has been selected for Test tours of the West Indies, and the Ashes, in the UK.

This follows his 48 wickets in Victoria�s Sheffield Shield winning season.

Adam Voges gets the nod, ahead of Joe Burns, for the reserve batting spot.

Well Donny, DTM will be stoked with Fawad Ahmed's selection.

And just goes to show, that we all knew Voges should have been picked ahead of Joe Burns for those tests against India.

He wasn't granted permanent residency in Australia till 2012.

The last Ashes tour was 2011.

You're probably thinking of 3 ODIs he played for Oz in Scotland and England, in Setember, 2013.

I thought the Ashes was held every four years in England's summer period!

Why is it on this year as opposed to 2017?

Rescheduling to avoid future conflicts, the Australian home series was supposed to be this summer but was moved to avoid clashing with the world cup.

The change in the cycle is supposed to stop any future series in Australia being before a World Cup. Although the next series will be straight after the World Cup in England!
