September is when reality kicks optimism in the balls except 2010

Neil, i'm sure you'll recall in 2010 GF1, had that Sherrin bounced into therapists hands in those dying minutes, it would have indeed resulted in a rather brutal kick to the gonads. Just sayin...

yes, but had that of happened, we would have had one more season of no one really thinking our game plan was a serious threat and we might have walked away with 2011? coulda shoulda woulda's never work to worry about because if you change history, you cant be sure what other changes that creates.

Hahaaha love it

My take: this year wil be different.

It will depend on:
The injury curse, did the club get the correct answer from the inquest, and if so, have they done the right things in trying to correct it. Depth is great, but all it takes is a truck to come along at the wrong time, and you go over like skittles. That truck has had soft tissue written all over it in recent years.

-I'm encouraged strangely by the likes of Jessie White, who looks like a different player, a stone lighter, and grip on his palms.

Drafting: did we get it right? So many important players to cover, either through retirement, goodbyes. Do we have enough who can play out the year, or enough to rotate the talent.

Skills: hopefully improved fitness levels and durability will allow the players to display the skills they surely must have, to have been drafted into the AFL in the first place.

Buckleys and none: luck of the Irish!

This is the first year I can really say this is now 100% Buckleys team. This year we see, can he coach? Can he build a team?

Well what do I think? I've still got Legend membership, just in case!

Think Positive guys, why not?

Every team needs (and has, to some extent) depth. You need depth in all departments (skill, experience, leadership etc) on all lines, for all games. Otherwise, in this day and age you'll be exposed eventually.

If you lose, say, you're top 3 midfielders, you'll look crap even if you have Buddy and Tippet and Ben Reid up forward. BUT if you lose one great midfielder, Buddy and your best backman it's not so bad.

If, like Collingwood, you lose 5 midfielders, all your HBF'ers, all but one tall forward, 3 trainers and your orange peeler, you'll eventually be exposed. Depth is great and we could field a second 22 (or close to it), but they're be beaten by a less skillful team due to lack of leadership and experience.

Hopefully we don't need to get close to that this year!

- Ben
